Watch will not sync on 5/20

Hi Everyone,

Was hoping for help here. My Versa will not sync today. I've been in touch with support and everything and it just will not work. I have restarted my router at home, restarted the watch multiple times, restarted my phone multiple times, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, ensured location settings are correct, etc. I've even done a factory reset. Now my watch is essentially a brick. Has anyone gotten their watch to sync again after this? I'm pretty annoyed that I've been spending so much time on this and it won't work. Is there some systemic glitch here?

Welcome to the Forums @roboduck.

Thanks for trying all of the steps that you have been recommended. I could see that you got in touch with our support team.

I'd like to ask if you are getting some sort of error message when you try to sync your Fitbit? If so, what does it say? In addition, what phone are you using to try and sync your Fitbit?

I look forward to your reply.

Hi @LanuzaFitbit

Thank you for the help. I am using the Google pixel 2 (it is on the supported devices list). I keep getting Bluetooth related errors. I've restarted Bluetooth multiple times and my watch still will not consistently connect. It's frustrating to have put that much time into this. Other Bluetooth devices are working, so it is not my phone. It is the watch.

@LanuzaFitbit at this point, the watch isn't even showing an accurate time. I'm starting to rethinking Fitbit as my tracker of choice. This shouldn't be so problematic.

Hello @roboduck.

Thanks for trying the steps I recommended and answering my questions.

There are some other steps we can try to get it to work. First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

They will help so that your Fitbit starts syncing with your Pixel 2.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

My Versa Lite got bricked because it got unpaired, probably because I was misled while exploring the settings the first day.  The "Restore Music Controls" setting on the Lite must be paired whether you want the music facility or not.  I may have shut it off and thus unpaired the phone.  If yours is similar, swipe left from the right of the screen until you come to Settings.  Swipe up to Bluetooth, and tap to manage connections.  Set Restore Music Controls to "pair" and it should solve the problem.

When introducing new devices they should really be testing the procedures on a group of lay people like us instead of only having tech nerds checking them over.

Hope this helps you and many others.
