Another factor is that the update also changes the amount that I enter, I have always been making drinking a beer recorded by entering the amount as 14.1 (A can of Guinness says 14.9) so it's been easy to look at my drinking for a month, normally only one to two beers occasionally a day, for years I have always said that I am a drinker with a running problem - LOL and it's been easy to review all my recorded drinks (Beer vs Water and Monster Energy etc).
When the Fitbit devices were originally created they were used by everyone doing the hardware design and the software designs, so we saw very few problems originally. Updates for a few years now seem to have been created by people who are never using a Fitbit device. So now Google is busy collecting data, but has very little experience how users are getting everything collected and displayed themselves. I'm only describing what we see happening these days, not criticizing.
