Web add steps app can't add steps

With the demise of the dashboard on the web I will no longer be able to add just steps to my my total for the day. I'm unable to wear my Fitbit all the time and use a simple step counter to keep track of how many I take. As far as I can see, there is no option to add these steps despite Google, assuring me that all the options that are on the website are available in the app. Do they plan to put an update out for the app so that it can add steps with them removing this option from the online dashboard when it closes??

Hi @DaveyC74. Welcome to the community forums.

Thank you for taking the time to share this inquiry regarding your app.

You are correct in the sense that there is no option on the Fitbit app to add steps to the total for the day. I'd suggest that you post this idea in the Product Feedback board of the Community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers. If you prefer to create your own idea, please make sure to post your idea including as many details as possible.

We have always been able to add steps through the App. They are added with the same process as on the web. Like with the web, we do not add steps directly. We add steps by creating an exercise.

Here is my current step count.

Now I'll create a 3 mile walk

This results in an increase in steps for the day.

We will choose Add Exercise - Log Activity - Choose your activity (Walk) - Set the time and distance.. Fitbit will use your stride to calculate the steps.

I understand that workarounds are often necessary, but this one is painful to my data-loving soul.  Doing this means that later on when someone wants to look at how many days they went out and took a walk, that data will be inaccurate.  Like... that's one of the goals in the fitbit app (to exercise x-number of days per week).

Or instead of that messing around they could add the word 'steps' to the options and I could just input the number off my reader.

Also you are incorrect there was a option just to add steps on the web. You selected walk then changed the unit to steps. I used it nearly every day.
