I am trying to figure out what "uncategorized calories" are??  what types of micro-nutrients make up this category? I am also trying to figure out what foods these calories are associated with in my diet?

Wondering the same thing. It's from the same food each day, for me. But I'm unaware what it's from

I had a few custom foods that I logged and completed all of the nutritional info that was missing. Once I plugged that in, the uncategorized calories went away. Turned out to be because I never calculated calories from fat.

Good point, @j-toz. Categorizing all of the calories in the food will give much better results.

If you haven't already done so, check out the Fitbit blog, How Counting Macros Can Help You Reach Your Health Goals.

Just putting in the macros isn't enough? Probably my custom food, I just put in fat, carb, protein, and calories. That's the one that gives me uncategorized

I was looking at that... but one item I've been able to identify as causing
me to have uncategorized calories was grapefruit... and all the
nutritional information was consistent with what should be recorded for
grapefruit and nothing was missing....

if you edit/customize the food on the site by clicking it in your log did it have a category and sub category?  I had this happen the other day to a food I had added via the create new food option (because the one I found in the database was wrong) and once I gave it a category and sub category and then deleted it from my log and added it again the calories were no longer uncategorized.

I've done all that . Put in how many calories from fat , the amount of fat, carbs and protein.  Still get uncategorized calories.

Hello, I think there are serious glitches with the custom food option on Fitbit. I live in The Netherlands and I am often traveling in Europe, therefore, most of the time I need to use the custom food option of the app, because most of the Dutch or other European products are not listed in the Fitbit app. Actually, I have hundreds of food on my custom food list. However, I realized that the app cannot work often with these types of food, because it's often produces uncategorized calories.

E.g.: I added an item to my custom food list, namely "yogurt with cherries with no added sugar". I entered the same values as I found on the box of the yogurt. However, when I enter this food it always comes up with some uncategorized calories on my daily calories. When I delete it, the uncategorized calories are disappearing. When I am adding it, they show up again. It's really annoying. Unfortunately, lately it happens even with other custom foods too. So basically your uncategorized calories are coming from the disfunction of Fitbit dealing with your list of custom foods.

It does not matter if you are entering the right values from the label, something is really wrong with the app. I don't even know how or why Fitbit is sold overseas if this basic service is not working correctly.

There is no way to get correct data on consumed calories overseas until this feature is not corrected, because we need to add almost everything to our custom food list manually. Which leads to another problem, but Fitbit doesn't seem to care.

We can only add new custom food with correct decimals only on our computer dashboard, which is a real pain in the a*s in 2020. People don't walk around with their computers and laptops. They need to be able to add custom foods with correct data on their mobile devices too.

Otherwise what's the point of buying a Fitbit tracker, if you need to write all your new custom foods on paper and later enter it through your computer dashboard?

I am shocked to see these very basic disfunction of the product, when basically people are using it for calorie counting.

I have found that if you add up your protien calories, carb calories and
fat calories. So multiple your carbs by 4 and your protein by 4 and your
fat by 9 you'll get your calories for that meal . This was the only way I
could get rid of the uncategorized calories. I offen found that the
calories didnt add up to the protein, fat ,carbs when they were added up.
Hope this helps some how. It's just want I've had to do.
