What is Mobile Track?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I noticed something on my new a71 phone that didn't show up on my a10. When i open my screen it has Mobile Track Fitbit pedometer service is running. Do I need that running all the time. Will it work my battery life down on my phone. When I open my account from my pic in top left corner, it shows Mobile Track below inspire 2. On my old phone it show the same other than it said linked to another device. What was old phone linked to that this one isn't and how do I figure that out. Could it be my laptop.

Hi, @wildwilly018 , Fitbit "Mobile Track" is an older service that allows you to count steps using your phone even if you forget to wear your Fitbit.  Steps counted by Mobile Track using your phone will be uploaded to your Fitbit dashboard.  Mobile Track is compatible with some phones, but not others, so that might explain why you have it on your current phone, but not on your previous one.  I am a little surprised that it is showing on your phone if you never initiated it, but it is possible that you set it up accidentally at some point without realising it while you were exploring your new Fitbit.

I also have Mbile Track, though I have rarely used it, and my phone also occasionally tells me that Mobile Track is running in the background.  I have never found that it had any noticeable effect on battery life.  However, if you are concerned, you can "unpair" Mobile Track from your account.  On your Fitbit app go to your account screen (on the opening page click on the small photo or person icon top left).  On the account screen scroll down to Mobile Track and click on the 3 dots and choose "unpair".

I hope this helps!

Hello @wildwilly018, It's nice to see you here in the Forums! @Julia_G it's great to see you around and thanks for your input!

@wildwilly018 for more information about MobileTrack, you can also visit the following link: How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack?

As @Julia_G mentioned, you can un-pair MobileTrack from your Fitbit account if you wouldn't like to use it.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for the reply @Julia_G. I never go without my fitbit on. It is a watch also and I feel lost without my watch lol. So I really don't need my phone tracking also. I haven't unpaired yet, but thinking seriously about it. What I have noticed with both tracking is that on my dashboard it tracked my route and shows the map via the gps, but that map won't load on my fitbit exercise app on my phone. Shows the distance and other stuff, but since it loaded on my dashboard on my laptop, it won't on my phone app. It did before I logged into the dashboard, then it just does the circle loading thing. I will decide, but I really don't need it tracking on both. Thanks again for your info and help.

Thanks @WilsonFitbit. As I stated above, I don't go far without my fitbit. Don't really need both tracking. But I read every thing everyone sends me or sends be to.

@WilsonFitbit Thanks. Something weird today tho. Went for walk Saturday. Hit walk on fitbit and stopped it when I got back. Tracked it nicely with map and all on app and dashboard this time. Today I go. Haven't changed anything and no map. Just the normal info. So weird. Didn't unpair mobile track yet either. Since everything worked good Saturday I left it alone.

@wildwilly018 thank you very much for the information!

Most devices automatically track several exercises, including a walk. Allowing your Inspire 2 to track your walk automatically doesn't provide a GPS map. But if you use the Exercise app on your Fitbit device to start and stop your workout, you will be able to see real-time stats, and capture GPS data.

For more information, please check: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

On a side note, if MobileTrack isn't being used, it is recommended to disable it to avoid any inconveniences related to data.

Hope this helps!

@WilsonFitbit For the last 3 days now I haven't got a map or anything for my walks. From the 23 to 30th of Jan I got everything. I haven't changed anything that I know of. I start and stop my walk from my fitbit and I do have GPS on on my phone and Mobile track paired also. Now you mentioned if not using Mobile track to disable it. I never go without my fitbit so Mobile track isn't necessary right? Is that maybe why I am not getting all info I want. I do notice that from main screen on app I go to exercise screen and go to that little stop watch top right corner and it keeps changing to run instead of walk where I keep setting it. Is that why it is not mapping my walk. I get a bit frustrated when I get the results I want and then things change and I don't know why lol.

Still having issues with getting a map of my route when I walk. Have tried everything I have read and anything I can think of. I know my GPS is on and working on my phone. I set my fitbit to walk when I leave and stop it when I get back. I get all the info when I get back other than a map. I was getting them for awhile, but no idea why not now.

How do I remove mobiletrack? I started getting notifications about it lately.

It is not listed in my account. The notifications only started a couple of days ago.

I have the same issue. Lately I started getting this persistent MobileTrack notification, but I never set it up, nor is it listed in my devices. When I click on "unpair" button, nothing happens and it still runs in the background.

Why?

How to completely remove it? @Fitbit

Was happening to me recently, too. Unpaired mobile track, but the pedometer notification still showed up every few minutes.

After a week of doing this, it went away.

Then after another week or so, it came back.

This morning, it seems to be gone again. I hope it stays this way this time.
