What is OS 5.0 or higher ?

can someone explain to me an idiot what exactly is OS 5.0 or higher I know its operating system but what one I have seen lollipop but then on another seen Android 7.1. is that a higher operating system 

I am looking at getting another ANDROID phone 

and I have a fitbit Versa 

 

Cofused I am as it says in a help article 

 

IS MY PHONE OPERATING SYSTEM COMPATIBLE WITH THE FITBIT APP?

To use the Fitbit app you must have one of the following operating systems installed on your phone or tablet:

  • Apple iOS 9 or higher
  • Android OS 5.0 or higher
  • Windows 10 version 1607.0 or higher

Android version 5 is Lollipop so version 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are ok which are Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and Pie.

 

Your best bet would be to look at the list of supported phones at www.fitbit.com/devices If it's on there and you are buying it new then it will have a supported OS and will work fine. If it's not on that list then it may or may not work ok and it's best to search the community to see if others have used that phone ok.

thing is a lot of phones that are not on the list have the right operating system which is why I was checking I think fitbit need to update their list etc
