Widget showing "launch the app to update activity data"

I switched over to my son's view to see his info. I came back to my account. Then the widget says to launch the app to refresh activity. It isn't showing me my steps like it was before. How do I fix it?

I'm having the same problem with my Samsung S9+. Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago when the Fitbit app kept crashing. Thinking it was an Android or app update, I uninstalled and re-installed but now the widget doesn't update after re-adding to the home screen. I already tried removing and re-adding the widget as well as making sure the app can run in the background.

Same problem for me with Samsung Galaxy S20, stock android.  Stopped working a few days ago after months of working fine.  "Launch the app to refresh activity data"

I did each one of these steps and still have the widget as a grey circle with the words Launch the app to refresh activity data.  So it didn't help at all.

It would be awesome if we could get a real fix here. I have followed the recommended steps...nothing happened. I Uninstalled the entire app then reinstalled...nothing happened. I would love to use this widget again, it was fine until about a week ago.

Thanks for the details provided, as well for taking the time to troubleshoot the Fitbit app prior to posting. I'm sorry that the Android widget isn't working correctly. Even though you've tried some steps, please give a try to the following in the given order:

  1. Remove the widget from your phone.
  2. On your phone's settings, tap Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
  3. Go back one screen, tap Force Stop and reboot your phone.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app on your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app, log back in to your account and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync.
  6. Add the widget one more time and check if your details get updated.

For me, after the last app update, it was working fine, albeit a little delayed to update, but then I removed it for some reason and re-added the widget and now it won't function. Tried all the suggested fixes with no results. Running the latest Android 11 on a Galaxy S10, and running the latest Fitbit app update.

I tried this, it does  ot help. I am on a samsung galaxy s21+. The widget still says to launch the app. You need to fix this! Not Just tell us to troubleshoot when that clearly does not help.

Any update on this?  I just got a new Samsung A71 yesterday and I am having the same issue as everyone else here, widget just shows "Launch the app to refresh activity data".  I've tried the troubleshooting steps here to no avail and yet the widget continues to work fine on my old phone (both phones are running Android 11).

What I don't understand is that the widget was working fine on my old
zenphone6, but stopped when i changed to my new samsung phone. Why is it
working on some phones and nor on others?

Did you have any resolution to this issue? I am having the same problem on my Samsung S21+ a full year later. My widget reads "Launch the app to refresh activity data". I want to be able to see my stats on my homescreen widget . Thanks!
