I just got a Withings Body+ scale and I'm ready to start tracking my weight, etc. (not the most user-friendly process. Three reinstalls and two scale resets later ...). I went to fitbit.com/weight/withings and connected my accounts, with the intent of the scale measurements being logged in my fitbit app. I read somewhere that I need the Google Health app to be a part of the process. Is that the case? Right now I have it, the Withings app and the fitbit app on my phone, which seems a bit excessive. Do I need them all? Do they all/some of/whichever need to be running at the same time? I'm hoping to get some guidance from folks more knowledgeable than I am. In advance, thank you.

It's not uncommon to "need" more apps to communicate. Some apps can communicate directly with Fitbit, like Strava. Some need an "agent".
And Google health is such an "agent". You can try it. If it doesn't work you can delete the app and the connections.
Some times when the connections are made, you don't need the apps on the phone, because the respective servers communicate with each other.
Well you DO need the "Withings" ap to read the scale I guess.

Thank you, Mario. I can understand needing the Withings app, so that makes sense. And I want to track things in the Fitbit app (as well as the other things the Fitit watch tracks), so ditto there. Those two are "must keep." And if I'm reading what you're saying correctly, I need Google Health as the bridge, correct? It's too bad with Google owning Fitbit I can't just use the Health app instead of it and the Fitbit app.

Hi, @the_3l3phant I use MyFitnessPal and Withings scales with my Fitbit app and all "talk" to each other. My Withings scale is linked to the Fitbit app via an iFttt applet and MyFitnessPal is paired with the Fitbit app. The Withings weight is transferred from the Fitbit app to MFP ( How do I connect Fitbit with another app? )so all are singing from the same hymn sheet.
I hope this helps.

Thank you @Gr4ndp4 - Using Ifttt, does that mean I can uninstall the Google Health app and just leave the Withings and Fitbit apps installed?

Hi, @the_3l3phant , I'm not sure, I can only suggest you try it, you can always re-install it if you need it.
Cheers
