I see there is a widespread misconception that you cannot organize the various blocks of information as you want. Is it exactly same as before? No -  Remember, change makes the world go onwards.

If you want the "Today" tile to show "Steps" - "Zone minutes" - "Distance" - "Calories": Tap the "Pencil" icon in the top right, just below your profile. Swipe left   Tap "Get more active" tile.

Once in edit mode, you can turn on/off metrics as you see fit. Using the arrows, you can place the metrics blocks in the order you want.

When you are done, tap "Save."

Design is subjective, and there will always be different opinions no matter how Fitbit chooses colors, icons, and so on. Personally, I think it is both fresh and brave that they have chosen white.  We have been living under a "Dark Mode" tyranny for years, so – white? It is a Big YES from Me.

But you still can't see your battery percentage anymore.

And as far as "Dark Mode", The app has always been white, even on my WindowsPhones that I used 10 years ago. I've never, ever, seen the fitbit app in a dark mode. I didn't even know it was possible.

And I don't see the maps. I sure hope that they didn't do away with those.

"Design is subjective, and there will always be different opinions no matter how Fitbit chooses colors, icons, and so on. Personally, I think it is both fresh and brave " . . . Customer input makes a huge difference of whether something stays or reverts. Look at the history of the Ford 500 replacing the Ford Taurus as an example of sudden changes backfiring on a company. Notice that the Taurus came back until Ford stopped making normal passenger sedans altogether.

Changing things up on customers without warning can bite a company in the donkey rather quickly and can have devastating financial results. It's not very wise to say "Let them eat cake" to the people that pay your bills.

It's the loss of maps in gps assisted walks and runs in the activity list and the bugs in manual swim entry (which now insists on distance in miles even when meters is selected) and the list sleep detail. Material problems

Dude,

You must have shares in Google or something! 🤣  This new app display is by no means better than before. Many of the the convenient features are gone.

The App is harder on the eyes to read because of the contrast in colors and there is no battery % display anymore.....to name a few.
Pushback from the community and a resistance to change is one thing....even inevitable, but come on man  ....they need to update this darn update!!

Maybe you can help me find the total weekly step count instead of the weekly average -along with the total weekly zone minutes instead of the average of the week.

Thanks in advance,

Melissa

@LokeAa this UI feels unfinished. The contrast is hard on eyes, the elements like text, icons are too spaced out. It's like it was designed for a fixed resolution rather than working with ppi/dpi. The focus area takes a majority of screen while could easily fit less than a half. The dark mode may not be a must but it has advantages (easier on eyes, better for phone battery, better when using app in low-light conditions). Editing layout is fine but it only allows to move big chunks of it yet not reorganize smaller items. It should be possible to reorganize items within each category (not just enable/disable). This UI doesn't feel finished but rather usually rushed by Fitbit to get it out the door. It can be improved (frankly, it's not far from Garmin's UI, the core UX seems to be exactly the same now) but there is still a lot work to do.

You're wrong. There's lots of information missing and now you need to scroll to find it. Apps are not websites. We don't go on apps to scroll endlessly unless you're on IG, Tumblr etc. Fitness app appeal is its one glance=all info. It's of you had to scroll your watch to see what day it is what month on another part of the screen, what hour and what minute. No sane designer would let this see the light of day.

-can no longer see GPS maps of exercise routes and that's a huge issue. GPS dtops out sometimes and I'd like to know if it recorded the actual distance I walked/ran/cycled

-can't see battery charge level

-can no longer see weekly totals, only daily averages for steps and workouts, including historical data

-detailed graphical display of steps is gone, I preferred seeing steps in the 15 minute increments so that if I napped and fitbit didn't record it, I could tell exactly when I fell asleep and woke up.

-it no l9nger shows when you synced last

I'm all for change and progress but when you take something that was already great and mix it up for no other sake than change and make it so bad to the point that 99% of people hate it and want to roll it back, clearly mistakes have been made.

Weekly totals are kind of hidden from view and scattered across the interface. For example, for steps:

Not having the battery percentage in the app any more is absolutely ridiculous, especially when it's charging. I have to get up, disturbing the cat sitting on me, to go across the room to check how the battery is doing!

Daily exercise is detailed in just accumulated actual numbers. This was taken away by adding big numbers AND big simple bar graphs.

This is all Spreadsheet data that I can't see now to work with, this is CEO overview graphics for feeling.

This app now gives you an overview trend effect. Which is nice for yearly review.

This should have been a added feature (a old time ago) as it it's an easy addition.

Agreed! Especially if they still expect us to pay 9.99 a month for premium

I can't see my weekly zone minute or step count.

There's no number indicator of battery. It only says low, medium or full! Even though they've always said to let your watch charge to 100

Yes you can, tap Steps. Tap the "back arrow" next to "Today". Tap "Week". Same for,"Zone minutes*

Hi @LokeAa are you on the development team at all ? As it seems to me that the only people defending this update(downgrade) must be those with an interest in defending the new 4 release. There are now thousands of post on the community alone. Let alone on non google forums...

I have bad eye sight and dark mode and contrast of colours is a must for me. I  have turned off auto updates for the fitbit app in the google playstore now. And reverted to the last 3.x version. The complete sense of relief getting back to the better interface and functionality is so rewarding. The new version is a car crash but I am glad your happy with it.  Cause your defo in the minority for sure .. 🙂

Thanks I'm heading there now to roll back. The lack of battery and contrast isn't working for me.

Can we revert back to the previous version.

I had it all together before now I need to scroll to get the info I want.

Can't re-arrange tiles and no percentage for the remaining battery? Why remove that?

I hope there's a way to go back to previous version.

Change makes the world go forward - said New Coke, shortly before they went back to Coke Classic. This is why I haven't upgraded my Versa 2 or installed the latest update. It's not so much the errors and poor customer service. It's the 'we'll tell you what you want and you'll darn well adapt' attitude.

Unfortunately this is a ill thought out implementation of Material it doesn't help with the poor colour palate. Going for run and checking the details was a waste of time. The map looks like a child has used a crayon, doesn't show a break down of data or even the max heart rate

Where are the flights of stairs climbed in that edit feature?
