app won't sync with wifi is still an issue

I notice this was an issue starting in 2014. I have a Pixel 8 Pro (Google's newest handset) and a Fitbit Charge 4. They will not sync unless I turn wifi off (leaving mobile service on). I have reset everything (losing all my data) and reinstalled multiple times. 

My wife has an iPhone and a Luxe, and has the exact same issue. I am wondering if the type of wifi might be a factor? We are using Omada with 5ghz, which is a common. standards based implementation. It is up to Fitbit to provide a solution.
