It doesn't appear on the list of supported devices at www.fitbit.com/devices so you may be out of luck.

Hopefully someone with a Prime will be able to confirm.

it's compatible you have to download the fitbit app to your phone and where
it says sync set it up from there

I just got a fitbit Blaze 12/16 and I have a Galaxy Prime. I have installed the fitbit app and synced my device; HOWEVER, my messages do not appear on my fitbit. 

Does anyone have any suggestions other than buying a new phone?

Make sure notifications are turned on for the fitbit app on your phone and on the fitbit itself.
