"Editing not supported for this photo" error

From the Fitbit app, when I go to add a profile pic an error message appears saying "editing not supported for this photo"

It does this with all the pictures from my phone. Is there a way around this? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi @Jennstjenn, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which Android mobile device are you using? When was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Can you please share with me a screenshot of the error message you're receiving? In the meantime I receive your answers, please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.

Looking forward to your reply.

Screenshot_20201002-081135.pngi tried all the steps you suggested and it's still doing it. I have a pixel 3. And the problem has always existed since I got the Fitbit in June. I have never been able to upload a photo for my profile picture.

Same problem with my Fitbit Charge 3 and Pixel 4 xl - I get the same error message when I try to upload any photos to my Fitbit account.

Same here. Fitbit Charge 4 and Pixel 3a.

Same here- charge 2 and Pixel 4a.

@RicardoFitbit so are there any other options? Because the suggestions did not work and it seems other people are having the same problem.

I figured out that you can get it to work if you to it through fitbit.com instead of the app.

Super helpful!! Thank you for the workaround!

These steps did not work for me I'm still having issues with not being able to update my profile picture or my background picture.  These are simple cell phone pictures.

Did you manage to find a solution? I've tried the app and desktop and it comes up with the same error for both......

@KatMartin Hi, did you manage to upload a new pic?

I was having issues on the app and computer. Someone mentioned not to stretch the photo so it uses all the space provided and it worked for me. Had to do it on the laptop though, not the app.

Hope this helps.

Rachel.

Why is this listed as the best answer when clearly it didn't work for anybody who replied to this post, including me? (Pixel4)

Best Answer

Why is this marked as solved?  I don't see a solution anywhere.  This thread was a waste of my time.

Best Answer

Agreed! I'm new to Fitbit an and unable to upload a photo. Also with a Pixel phone

This is the solution! Pixel user here also (Pixel 2 XL and just upgraded to Pixel 5 last month) I couldn't get it to work through the app or web dashboard logging in on mobile. I would get an error every single time. Your solution of not fully expanding the thumbnail is the only thing that worked. What a weird buggy little club we Pixel users get to be in.

But I couldn't even get the thumbnail to upload what did you do differently. Pixel3a
