"Incorrect Date or Time" Message

Everytime I try to log into Fitbit App to sync with my phone I continuously receive "Incorrect Date or Time" Message.
I've followed Fitbit's advice & enabled Automatic Date and Time on my Phone but it's now an hour slow.
Can anyone advise me how to get my devices to sync with the current time.
Thanks in advance

It's nice to see you around the Community Smiley Very Happy! Hmmm... this is very strange let me say.  Are you logged in? I'm a bit confused about this, do you get this message whenever you try to sync?

If you're logged, but when syncing you get that message, please do the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit App is up-to-date
  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

Let me know how it goes!

Hi
This happens every time I try to log into my app.

My app is up to date. I've previously tried switching off Bluetooth, force stop & switched my phone off for 30 mins.

My Fitbit HR & phone have synced (with the incorrect time) and needless to say my Fitbit is now an hour slow.

I'm at the end of my tether with it now

Hi
Thanks for your help but I've finally figured out what the problem was........ Having returned from Holiday my phone settings reset to GMT instead of BST causing the discrepancy. Simple really but frustrating xx

Just in case, here are some tips for traveling with your Fitbit tracker:

- It is safe to take all Fitbit trackers through airport security. The scanning machine will not damage your tracker.
- Most Fitbit users find it easiest to remove their tracker and place it in a bag for airport scanning to avoid unnecessary questions about the device.
- Your Fitbit does not fall under FAA guidelines for electronic devices that need to be turned off during flight. Bluetooth capabilities are shut off during flight, so neither your tracker nor your phone will be looking for a signal to sync.
- You can plug your charger into any standard USB power source, including, but not limited to: a computer, a wall A/C to USB adapter (commonly included with smartphones). a DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

All trackers have the ability to store at least 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. Summary data (calories, distance, and steps) will be stored for the trailing 30 days. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data.

If you're using the Fitbit app for iOS and traveling between time zones with your tracker, note the following information:

  • To avoid data loss, in the Fitbit app, tap Account and then tap Advanced Settings. Find an option to automatically set your time zone and turn it off. Note that the time on your tracker may not update to reflect the time in your new time zone.
  • To make sure the language in your app does not change, tap Account and then tapAdvanced Settings. Tap Country, turn the setting to automatically set your country, and then select the country of your choice.

If you're using the Fitbit app for Android and traveling between time zones with your tracker, in the app settings find Set Automatically and turn off both the timezone and country options. If the timezone and country are set automatically, you may lose data or see your dashboard language change.

I cant open my app anymore. I get the "incorrect date and time. Change settings on phone" issue as well. I'm using a Samsung galaxy tab 4. Tried the turn off bluetooth, turn off the tablet suggestion. Tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Can't open the app to change settings there. Very frustrating!

It is frustrating but I hope there is a solution. It works on my Galaxy Tablet but not my phone. I've tried everything I can think of including ensuring that settings on both devices and fitbit.com match. Also, explored calender settings in case it is not a conflict w the main date time settings (which are as they should be.
The thing that I can't change is that my phone is not connected to a network. It has been on airplane mode since I left Canada. So the date and time is not actually set via a mobile network. However, among the combinations I've tried is using the appropriate time zone setting t get the accurate time.

Does the time zone have to match the location? Have not changed my location as I want to be able to read the page; and ..I, and by extension my account, is Canadian.

Help?!

Hey guys @Rustic @DaveatBB, hope you're doing great! The time shown on your tracker should automatically match the mobile device or computer to which it is connected (paired). When clocks change for Daylight Savings, your tracker's time will change after the next sync. If the time is wrong, make sure the time zone setting is correct as described below.

I've tried to replicate what you're experiencing but wasn't successful. If possible, can you reply with the following information as well?

-Phone's regional and language settings

-Fitbit Dashboard regional and language settings

-Phone's time settings

-Fitbit Dashboard time settings

Thanks my friends!

Thanks for trying to help....

I have a Charge 2 and I'm trying to use the app on a Samsung Tab4 tablet.
(the app works fine on my Samsung phone).

Answers to your questions are below:

Que Phone's regional and language settings:

Answer: Tablet setting is English (Canada)

Que:-Fitbit Dashboard regional and language settings

Answer Fitbit setting is English

Que -Phone's time settings -

Answer The time zone settings on my tablet are GMT-05:00 Eastern Time Zone
English; Fitbit was set to GMT-4:00 Toronto (I guess because of daylight
savings time?). So I changed to tablet to GMT-4:00 Atlantic (caused the
tablet to show an incorrect time); restarted the tablet and I still got the
same Incorrect Date and Time message.

Que Fitbit Dashboard time settings

Sorry guys @DaveatBB @Johnsy71 @Rustic, I missed one steps you asked me previously (my bad). Due to Google permissions requirements for Bluetooth syncing, you must turn on location services to sync your tracker (Settings > Location). For more information about the latest Google permission requirements, see Google's Android 6.0 Changes document.

The time shown on your tracker should automatically match the mobile device or computer to which it is connected (paired). When clocks change for Daylight Savings, your tracker's time will change after the next sync.

I tried following your directions to change the time for daylight savings but it didn't work. What now?

So we both can be on the same page, are you seeing an incorrect time and date on your tracker or as the rest of the guys here (on the App)?

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the menu icon in the top left corner and tap Account.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Find an option to modify your time zone.
  4. Sync your tracker:
    1. Go back to the Account screen and tap your tracker name.
    2. Tap Sync Now.
