FYI - I noticed yesterday that my Aria hadn't sync'd in a few weeks. Oddly this corresponded with a network wifi access point upgrade.
After spending quite a while and finding a number of similar unanswered topics on the Fitibit forums, I was able to resolve.
Hopefully this will save someone several hours of research.
Background : I'm running two Unifi AP AC PRO wifi access points (WAP). These allow for both 2ghz and 5ghz networks simultaneously.
The upgrade that I applied ended up removing "Legacy" support for 802.11b devices, of which the Aria scale is one. This "legacy" support will degrade your performance of the 2ghz network by up to 50% and should really be setup as it's own network on a separate WAP due to the performance hit. I didn't have any extra WAPs and my higher performance devices are all on the 5ghz networks so it wasn't much of an issue.
The other issue was this WAP has a "2G Data Rate Control" that defaults to a higher value than the Aria can support so Aria's connection to wifi would fail until I overwrote this value to the lower bound of 1Mbps.
Hope this helps save others some frustration.
Cheers.

It would depend on your wifi access point / router.
