Aria not syncing anymore

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Same as the other thousand users on this forum, I can't use my Aria anymore. I was hoping the issue would be fixed, but it's been months now and I'm still waiting.

No impedance measurements, no guest weight logs, no syncing, heck I can't even get to a setup mode anymore !

I bought it for a purpose, now it does not fit that purpose anymore, and it's not a device issue : it's all software. What do I do ?

And please, don't tell me to buy a new Fitbit product.

Same! I paid for a Bluetooth scale, I expect a Bluetooth scale. I upgraded my phone and now the scale won’t connect. I had no issue last time reconnecting.  Now it says I need to invite myself to connect but get an error message when I try. Tried removing the device but now it won’t connect at all. There’s no Bluetooth signal popping up on the scale to start the process and it’s infuriating there’s no way to try it manually as far as I can tell. Very disappointing, this problem has been posted for some time and still no solutions.

Same. I can weigh myself, but i could have done that with a $10 scale. I didn't pay this much for it to NOT do the technology thing

I had a similar challenge with the original Aria 1 (four AA batteries)

Issue:  Possible legacy challenge with embedded services in the scale.

### ###

Had the Fitbit Aria 1 for quite a while, and recently it was not showing recent weigh-in(s).     The app on the phone did show it was syncing, but there was no data.
To resolve, I tried a few things:
1) Uninstall and reinstall the FitBit app on my latest phone  [No luck]

2a) Use the FitBit Aria setup on my latest phone.  [Remove battery for 10 sec.  Would not progress beyond the setup screen]

2b)  Also did the paperclip and factory reset.  [Would not progress beyond the setup screen]

3) Used the FitBit Aria setup on a computer with wifi.  [Would progress beyond the setup screen, but not complete.]

4)  Use the FitBit Aria setup on older phone with older phone browser (Kiki Browser),  [Success]

While I was troubleshooting #3 step, I could see that the Aria Scale is using an older web server on TCP 80 (HTTP)
-  I noticed that it was sending over "fpc" cookies that were marked as "secure"   [fpc=first party cookie]
- Modern browsers will not allow (enforced security) for sending "secure cookies" over an unsecure channel (aka TCP 80 / HTTP).
- Trying to bypass this challenge is a pain.   You can setup your Chrome browse or other to accept the cookie but this will be a ongoing issue.   The Aria scale does not use HTTPS protocol for its internal web server.

Resolution:

The older browser on my older phone did allow usage of this "fpc" cookie, and I had no other issues when using the latest Fitbit app on the older phone.

I can now see the recent weightings in the Fitbit app.
Example of the error seen when using a browser (F12 developer view) to access the FitBit Aria (v1) scale.

When the Aria scale wifi was enabled, a port scan showed only TCP 80 open for IP address 192.168.240.1

Success screens on the older phone.

Looks like I'm not the only one.. my Aria Air has not synced for 268 days now . I gave up trying.. tried everything recommended from resetting, to change battery, etc.  Nothing worked.. it still does your weight but just no syncing, what a waste getting that scale as that was the point.

Excellent detective work. Once you've reconnected your Aria, do you still need to use your older phone for the scale to correctly submit recent weigh-ins?

Following your advice, I managed to get my Aria to "register" again, but it didn't solve my problem.

Yes, you can't register the device because of the secure cookie. To get around this, I used Burp Suite. I used the built-in Chromium app. I then configured Burp Suite's Proxy settings to Remove secure flag from all cookies. In addition, I needed to disconnect my ethernet cable from my computer. Once I did that, I used Chromium within Burp Suite to register my Aria. That was successful.

Unfortunately, when I weigh in on the scale, it still only syncs with fitbit.com, but doesn't include the weigh-in values.
