It blows my mind in today's world where a smart scale is incapable of adding an under age family member. I am attempting to add my children to my Aria scale and it is forcing me to start fitbit accounts for them which is not allowed due to age. How can a "smart" scale fall short on such a basic function? I am not interested in any work around. As a parent, I should be allowed to add my child to my scale so that I can track their weight. Can someone at Fitbit inform me as to what the legal implications are to having my child us the scale I purchased? By all means, if I am missing something please let me know.

Hello @bstiles and a warm welcome. I am not a Fitbit employee. Members of the Community Council are volunteers who have a lot of knowledge about Fitbit and its products. The legal hurdle, here in the US, is COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Simply stated, your child cannot have his/her own Fitbit account for the same reason he/she cannot have a Facebook account. He or she has not reached the age of digital consent. That age is even higher in some EU countries.
Like I said, I am not am employee, but it is fair to say that Fitbit is not interested in violating any US or international digital consent laws.

Thank you for the response. The good news is, this is why I don't want my children to have an account, I just want them to use the scale and me to be able to automatically log the data. Lets pretend I am weighting a family dog or mule. I can be creative. Don't even let me pick child in the app, how about we use code names like, guest 1, guest 2, guest 3. I am certain that all the designers could come up with something.

@bstiles I agree with you. Weight measurements taken on an Aria/Aria 2 sync over wi-fi. When a weight goes to an account, that data is available on a web page on the account. I admire your creative ideas, but here is a little issue. There are some users who enter a fake age to give their children an adult account. Your creative ideas might be seen as the same thing and this would be a violation of the Terms of Service. Fitbit doesn't like that either.
I know you want to monitor your children's growth and you want that information to transfer automatically. There is a Feature Suggestion asking for the Aria scales to be added to a Family Account. In the meantime, I think you should browse your app store for an app to track a child's growth. I gave this suggestion to another user -- I looked at some of the apps. They include children's growth charts and give you more information than is available on the Fitbit app pages. The weight won't transfer automatically. Fortunately, healthy children do not need to be weighed that often.
