Old Aria won't finish set up

I have an OLD Aria (2016 or so). I just had to replace the batteries but now I can't get it to finish set up to WIFI. I can get the scale to connect to WIFI. but it but it won't finish set up. I have forced stop the app, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, and various other things.

I know this scale is no longer "supported", but does that mean it is now an unusable piece of junk?

I had to alter my 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi settings on my router to utilize 802.11b only for the setup process.

I followed the process at http://www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start

So it is connected to the My Home WiFi. I use the scale but it says I am GUEST constantly. Says it "syncs" my data with the cloud but the Fitbit App and the Fitbit Website shows not data received.

I was reading somewhere that after fitbit migrated accounts from the old system through Google, that it might be possible to get it to work if we REMOVE the Scale from our account and add it again as if it were brand new. Deleting any phantom records on the old FitBit servers and allowing Google's new system learn you.

I'm going to give it a try.

If your router uses smart steering to manage the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz channels so that there in only one SSID then try turning that off so that you have separate a separate SSID for each channel. Older smart devices that can only use 2.4 GHz don't work well with smart steering.

Hi, the scale should work with newer routers, provided that:

1) the router wifi settings are configured to support the older 802.11b wifi standard. Newer routers might not have it active by default.

2) the wifi password only contains letters and numbers

3) the network security is configured to support WPA2 (no WPA3 only... usually you have an option WPA2 + WPA3 and that should work fine)

If your router allows you to configure a Guest wifi network, my advice is to put the scale in that network, so that you can define a separate wifi password with only letters and numbers (while continuing to have a more secure password for your main wifi). Also, since the firmware of the scale is not supported anymore, it might have security issues that will never be fixed, so it's best to put the scale in a Guest network where usually (again, depending on the router's settings) devices are isolated and cannot communicate with other devices on the wifi network.
