Three years after the other community topic this issue still is not fixed. The person I'm chatting with keeps telling me I'm stupid and the issue is with my phone. Oh really. I have a pixel 9, a pixel watch, I have Google home minis, and max in every room of my house. I don't by a product if I can talk to it via Google. And the issue is me? I can turn on or off every light, outlet, heater, AC, water. Everything from Google. I was really hoping that with them buying Fitbit things would get better. Guess that was a lie. Time to move away from Google and go somewhere else. I can tell you I will never buy another pixel device again
