I have quickly noticed the accuracy of distance I run is WAY off with my Blaze. I am running measured routes I have used for over 15 years and have also used other devices (such as a garmin) on the past, so I know the distances I am running. However, the blaze is consistently measuring 0.4-0.5 miles
short for each 3 miles I run. Imagine how far off that is on longer runs over 10 miles! Not to mention how far off it is in calculating splits and average pace. I'm very disapppinted with spending over $200 for something that is so unreliable in tracking my running distance.

We will need more info @Dcfrunner
Was the phone with you?, and a map of the run produced?
Have you increased your stride by 1.2 times?

I've noticed the same thing while walking. Was pretty accurate at first now not so much.

I understand the Blaze operates with "connected GPS" and I have used it while carrying my phone which will produce accurate distances and a map of my route. I was hoping to not have to carry my phone and still get a degree of accuracy in distance. While I already know distances of most of my routes, for those times I am running away from home or trying out new routes, the Blaze would be unreliable for determining the distance covered. Minor discrepancies would not be a big deal to me, but over increased distances the exponential inaccuracy would be too great for my use. I was not expecting perfect accuracy - If it was off by 0.5 over 10-12 miles, I could handle that, but being off by that much over a mere 3 miles is too much. Again, my hope was to not have to carry my phone and still have a higher degree of accuracy than I am getting. Is there a way to improve accuracy? Or can that only be fond with the built in GPS of the Surge? I'm not sure what you mean by increasing my stride by 1.2times.
If I still have to carry my phone then that somewhat defeats the purpose of my using the Blaze. Any thoughts/helps/recommendations? I do appreciate the reply.

I have the same problem. It is beyond aggravating considering I chose blaze over the Garmin.which I am now realizing was a huge mistake! I run everyday, eitheroutside or on the treadmill and it is never accurate anymore. I also ran a half marathon a month ago (i can understand being a little off), but to finish the race and my blaze tell me I've only went 10.60 miles is a major problem.I was synced up to my phone with gps the entire time listening to music so it's not because I didn't have my phone with me..every run I've been on since the race has been completely off ( probably before then and I've just not realized). This is a major problem that needs to be fixed. What makes it even more aggravating is my sister in law has one and we can run side by side same distance and it says she has went anywhere from .5 - 1 mile further than me...

I am having a similar problem which was noticed recently when doing a marathon walk with my daughters who were both wearing Charge 2 trackers. They both reached 10000 steps within a couple of hundred of each other, my Blaze was showing 7,300 ish. Once aware of this problem I checked it out while counting my steps and found that when walking fast with arms swinging the Blaze undercounted my steps (and therefore my distance) by between 25-32%. If my Blaze wearing arm stays by my side it counts perfectly, or if I hold the Blaze up so that I can watch each step it also counts perfectly. If I stand still and just swing my arm it counts steps (perfectly!). Fitbit customer service replaced my original Blaze but after extensive testing I've found the replacement has exactly the same problem. As far as I am aware this seems to have happened since the last update. I feel very disillusioned at the moment. There is no point taking part in Challenges and no possibility of getting my 70,000+ step/day badges. Now thinking I need to be cutting my losses and get either a Garmin tracker or Apple watch 😞

A tracker that undercounts by 25-50% is more than way off, it is totally useless! It would be interesting to know how many people are having the problem. I might not have noticed had it not been for us all starting a walk at midnight on zero steps and mine being so totally different from my daughters. A few times I had been surprised that my step count was so low in an evening when I thought I'd been as accurate as usual, but had no reason to think the Blaze had gone wrong until the Moonwalk.
