I have automatic exercise recognition turned off, so when I begin a workout, I manually start it on the Blaze. Today, for example, I completed an hour long crossfit workout, which I manually started as “workout”. When I completed the workout, my blaze is only showing I had 17 active minutes, but the workout length was 59:13 and at a minimum 45 of those 59 minutes were active. Any thoughts on this? Am I doing something wrong? My Charge 2 registered the workout length and active minutes the same...

When you say 45 minutes out of 59 party's why the tracker showed? 

Active minutes are when the body burns 3 time their bmr.
