It's great to see you around @Robhuff46. Keep in mind that in order to earn active minutes, you need to be constant in the exercise you are doing. Did you stop at any point of your walk? If you did, the minutes you stopped won't be count as active minutes. For more information, I recommend taking a look at our What are active minutes? article.

My Blaze has not tracked any active minutes since May 24th.  I've ridden my bike for hours at a time, walked for at least 30 minutes without stopping during a two hour walk.  What do I need to do to fix this?

Best Answer

It's great to welcome you @vcg. I would like to know if you keep having issues with your active minutes information? If you do, I recommend restarting your Blaze. Also, are you manually logging the activity walking or running? Since these activities might take away some active minutes.

I have restarted several times and my active minutes are still not logging. It stopped working consistently on May 29th. It stopped working completely on June 11th. Other than been sick for the last 2 days, I normally log at least 15 minutes daily and usually closer to 20. I've had a Fitbit since they first hit the market so I know how to use it. Just tell me what happened in May. Is there a new update coming?

Great to see you around @madmom98146 and thanks for the information.

Since the restart procedure didn't work, I recommend keeping an eye on your inbox for further instructions.

How is this a solution. Is there more information coming or is this reply
just to close your end?

I paid for this unit for it's features. If those features are not working,
I expect resolution.

Thank you.

My Blaze still is not tracking my active minutes even after restarting.  I have tried using the exercise function as well as just letting my fitbit naturally track my activity.  Still not tracking.  I walked for 30 minutes today and it recorded it as one of my days of weekly exercise, but no active minutes.  Everything works except for tracking active minutes.  What next?

Best Answer

Fitbit replaced my tracker and this one does the same. If I restart, it may track active minutes for that day but not after. I'm switching to Samsung. I've been with Fitbit since the beginning but it seems it's now more about getting people to buy the newest rather than focusing on longevity of what's already been designed. I suspected something new was happening once my blaze began having issues and I appear to have been correct. The newest Fitbit model hits the market soon at a rediculous price. I'm so incredibly disappointed.

When I purchased my Blaze in late April, it took me a minute to figure out something was up w/ the active minutes...

i live my Blaze, so I dealt with lower active minutes...

however, now my sleep stages are gone.

i slept with TWO FITBITS last night in hopes of getting Stages on at least one of them...

No Stages on either.

im MAD, fitbit!

and I'm upset with you moderators who just forward lies, and delete pertinent comments!

This is an interesting thread. I've had my Blaze since mid-September and one of the many things I like about it has been the recording of active minutes - I walk, do Bowflex (cross between an elliptical and stairclimber), kettlebells, and climb stairs when I have the occasion to do so (like walking at the mall). It has always recorded active minutes quite accurately until today. It was raining so my usual brisk walk was out. I did the Bowflex for 50 minutes and 0 active minutes were recorded. Booo!!!

What's going on?

Great to see you around @Purrstachio. Did you check if your tracker sync properly? If you didn't, I recommend checking that your Blaze is syncing as it should. If you are having issues syncing, take a look at the Having trouble syncing? post and follow the instructions provided there.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Hi,

Yes, the tracker syncs. I have the app on both my computer and my phone and
sometimes if the phone is too close to the computer, the tracker will be
slow to sync. That's easy to fix, though. The active minutes issue has not
reappeared and it may have had something to do with the intensity of the
exercise.

Thank you.

I did an update, restarted and still no active minutes.  Is there a solution? How do I get a fix?

Is this a not so subtle, Apple Computer-like slow down to encourage me to get a new product?

I'm not sure what your saying @drdave restarting will not affect data that has all ready been recorded it sent to the Fitbit cloud service it could affect future data that has not been recorded yet.

My question, have you done any exercises that triple your resting heart rate since restarting the tracker?

Do I have to triple my heart rate in order torecord active minutes?

No @drdave it is 3 times the body's BMR in calories. See the active minute help doc.

Fitbit has a canned quote of you having to really be moving to get those active minutes... I've found if it's not working, I restart or if I know I want them to count, I restart. But I don't use the actual restart function. I shut it down while im in the shower. You have to put it in the charger and use the app. Then turn it back on when I ready. I've also found that sometimes it needs an update. You can also have them reset it. If the problem persists and it's still under a year, they will usually replace it. If it's an older unit, you may have to get a new one. They have tiny processors that can only hold so much info or so many upgrades.

Good luck and keep up the walking no matter what your gadget says!

You may just need to do the restart I mention below for drdave. It's a full shut down while charging.
