Argos will not accept returns

My wife recently went to purchase two Fitbit Blaze from Argos in Arbroath but wanted to see how it looked on her wrist first and wanted to know if she could exchange mine if it did not fit me. (we have heard of people measuring their wrist but finding there was not enough play in the watch brought) They said because of the way it was packaged they could not exchange them because they would not be able to resell them. I checked with Argos and this is their policy. If this is the same for all outlets I think Fitbit should change their packaging or at least offer some dummy watches at the outlets for people to try on. After all the watch is also a piece of jewelry. My wife after phoning me decided not to purchase the watches.

Does anyone know of any local stores that are a bit more helpful?

At the moment I have a Fitbit charge HR, I have glued the strap back together twice, slit the silicone to smooth out the bubbles then glued back down but now the button has fallen off. Love using the thing but I do wish it was a bit more sturdy. The Blaze was going to be my upgrade.

Hi, @51eve,  if you buy online, under EU law returns within 7 days have to be accepted, although you will have to pay return postage.  So that is one option for you.  If you buy directly from Fitbit they have a 45 day return policy, although again you will be liable for postage/ shipping charges.

If you open very carefully so as not to rip the packaging, I have found Curry's pretty reasonable on their return policy, so that is another option.  Also Curry's usually have some on display, so they might let your wife try on.

If you are concerned about size there is also a sizing tool you could print to check before you buy.

As for looks, I can recommend the "slim" bands for the Blaze for your wife.  In my opinion they look great on a smaller wrist and are more comfortable too than the wider, standard band.

Similar situation here;

Brought fitbit blaze in store last week, have used it for a week, have found it not fit for purpose. Tried to return it today only to be told they can not accept returns because its been activated;

1. How can you fully test a product and decide whether to keep it, if you can not use all its functions?

2. Why is there no 'Factory Reset' option on the blaze?

3. UK support number is only Mon-Fri, not overly helpful

4. When purchased from Argos was not told about this 'activation' policy, however on returning the item they knew the answer straight away, assuming they've had a lot of returns and have come up against this before (i know this is an argos issue)

 No wonder i saw a lot of these on the 2nd hand market, because no body could return the things!

There are definitely other reasons for them being in second hand markets, and why most fitbits on Ebay say not working for parts only.

I know of 3 major retailers in the USA that will take a Fitbit back, period. They don't look at the seal, but do check to see if the serial number on the packaging matches the serial number on the receipt.

If you don't mind saying which 3 retailers are these that will take back returns of fitbit? I have been fearful of purchasing from anyone other than Fitbit in case of needing to return.
