Auto sleep tracking is wonky at best

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

so I've gotten two firmware updates in about 10 days.  And ever since the first one, Auto sleep is really wierd.

Tonight, while eating a dinner with my wife, of fried chicken, coleslaw, gerkin pickles, and a coke zero.  All by hand.

My Blaze said I was ASLEEP.  How is that even remotely POSSIBLE TO BE ASLEEP AND EATING?

This is the third time in the same 10 days, at about the same time of day, that FitBit says I'm asleep and I'm fairly sure, I wasn't.  Sure, Sure, I can delete these entries.  But, really can't imagine why it keeps saying I'm asleep, when I am not.

Contacting support by email (can't take them on the phone) merited a reply that I was excessively sedentery.  Umm, while eating?

Anyone else have this issue?  I'm expecting a lot more than saying I'm asleep, when I'm eating dinner.

It's great to see you around @SunsetRunner. I would like to know if you keep having problems with your Blaze registering sleep while you are not sleeping? If you are, I recommend restarting your tracker and test it. If the restart procedure doesn't work, feel free to contact our support team but this time you can do it via phone or chat.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Great to see you here @Jakia. To restart the Blaze, you just need to do the following:

  1. Press and hold the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

Catch you later. Woman Happy

Great thanks. I will remember this.

no it's not fixed.  It records sleep when I charge it.

I have never gotten a resolution from FitBit support.  So, NO, I won't contact them.  Particularly by phone.  I don't need some first line technician telling me I'm excessively sedentary.  While I have 16k steps that day.

At this point there is NOT one metric I think FitBit get's even close to accurate

Been having the same problem with auto sleep tracking, before and after the update and despite all the resets its still not auto tracking sleep and some times when you manually track by start sleep logging in the phone app 'Begin Sleep' when you go to bed and stop it when you awake it displays a message that a sleep log already exists and when checked the sleep log is only fo an hour and some minutes when it shoule have logged over 6 hours of sleep.

Yes, it keeps showing me asleep while watching TV. I prefer to tell it when I'm asleep because the auto track isn't working properly.

Mine's USUALLY at least close. However, at least 3 or 4 times, it's had me still sleeping all the way through my morning workout. When I run. And I have it in treadmill mode. I can see if you're sitting around watching TV or whatever, but RUNNING?!

I’ve had it say I was asleep when kneading bread. All manner of things. Where my arms and body was moving

Thanks for the note, of the nearly one dozen time i‘ve contacted FitBit support, I have yet to actually get help. I get more help on these bulletin boards.

The staff doesn’t seem to even use the products, so they just run through scripts and really don’t care if they help or not.

Of the many Blaze sensors, the only one I can’t prove it is demonstrably inaccurate is heart rate. So wear it for that alone. I don’t view any other data from it. For example, upon walking yesterday, the blazer said I had covered 8 floors. While sleeping?

Staying on your point, when I contacted FirBit support regarding sleep tracking, they told me I was overly sedentary, for watching TV news for 1 hour after covering 18000 steps that day.

That one atatemwnt is why I never contact support.

@SunsetRunner I guess I'm too sedentary when I'm running! I've had my Blaze tell me I woke up at the end of my morning workout at least 3 times.
