Band material for the Blaze

What is the band material on the Blaze made of? Is it the same as the Surge and/or Charge/Charge HR models? Asking because I am very intersted in the Blaze, but I had allergic reactions to the Surge, even after following all of the recommended guidance and care tips.

@SunsetRunner Sorry to hear you experienced skin irritation with Surge. It sounds like you've already looked at the Wear and Care guide - the instructions there will allow most customers to wear their tracker comfortably. If that hasn't been true for you, it's probably best to consult with a physician regarding your specific scenario before using a new device. Most important is to clean it regularly, keep it dry, and don't wear it too tightly.

To answer your question about the wristband materials: the standard wristband is a custom elastomer that has been designed specifically to alleviate wearability issues. We've consulted with medical experts and tested with independent labs to ensure that we've done everything we can to help everyone wear it comfortably.

The leather wristband uses genuine leather, similar to what is widely used across the fashion accessory industry. To ensure this leather is obtained in an ethical manner, we've ensured that the tanneries involved are certified to the ecological standards in their countries of operation (Germany and the Nordic Region).

The steel wristband uses stainless steel, for the purpose of a high quality product, and also to address the aforementioned testing protocols for wearability. All stainless steel contains a small amount of nickel, but these wristbands do meet the European Union's stringent Nickel Directive.

Hopefully that answers your question about the materials involved! Wearability and comfort are definitely major factors in the way we design our products.

My guess is that it would be the same/similar material. Though you have the option of getting a leather or stainless steel band to use instead.

The basic model looks to be the same plastic material as the Charge etc. I'm happy that with the new Blaze, customers now have the option to purchase additional bands. I'm definetly gonna buy the leather band 'cos I'm a bit dissapointed on how the plastic band on the Charge HR makes my wrist sweaty after wearing it all day 😕

So thumbs up for Fitbit Blaze 🙂 🙂

what size connectors are the bands?  Is it standard that I can take any off the shelf band to replace bands?

Best Answer
@skoobygeek , the band unit of the new Blaze consists of a wrist band and the metal frame that the Fitbit unit slots into, so it appears that it would not be possible at this stage to swap in an ordinary watch band. If this Fitbit proves popular (and it looks great!) I would think that there will be more band options in the future, rathe as there are many options for the Flex.

The extra bands on the Fitbit Store all are connected to the frame where the tracker can be placed into. Seems only to be compatible at the moment with the extra bands Fitbit sells as accessoires for the Blaze.

@skoobygeekThe connection between the Blaze band and the frame is a little different from a conventional watch band. There's a spring-loaded pin that locks both the top and bottom wristband in its place. If you pull the pin back, you can swap the wristband or the frame out.

I have no idea about getting a frame that would allow a conventional watch band yet because the Blaze is still so new, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see more watch bands and cases once the Blaze is shipped out.

@ErickFitbit That sounds exactly like a standard watch band. We would just need to know the width of the band to see if it matches a standard available width. (Of course this will be really easy to find out once people actually have them in hand.)

He said no because it is similar to the Fkex - which means soon there will be lots of inferior after market stuff out there.

@MichaelIt is similar but not quite the same as a standard watch band. The band also has a small indentation so it fits snug into the frame. The width of the standard band is 42.3 mm. Sizing can be found here.

No. The sizing appears to be subtly different. I have a large Charge and Surge but I suspect I would need a small Blaze. The sizing chart is posted on one of the other threads on this forum if you want to take a look at it. I'm not sure if it's in the main thread or one of the others, however.

@Mikeyb50 Yes sir, you can pre-order your Blaze in either a small, large, or even XL right here. As @MikeF pointed out, check out the Blaze sizing chart in my other post here. Hope you find it helpful! Robot Happy

Interested in preordering the blaze. Would like to order the plum but I need x-large. That option doesn't seem to be available. Also how come it can't be preordered with the stainless band?
Best Answer

lt would be nice if you could just order the Blaze with the band you want right from the get-go rather than ordering it with the standard band and having to purchase the one you want as an add-on.
