I am only getting credit of about 100 steps for every mile I ride. I am shocked that is all the credit I get. Is this normal?
In 90 degree weather I ride at about 16.5 mph and my average ride is 20 miles long. I barely get 2,000 or at most 2,500.steps for that entire distance.
I sync my blaze to my phone, use the "bike" feature under the exercise button and yet I'd be better off walking a mile and half for the credit Fitbit gives me.
I read another post where someone said that they got 500 steps a mile rode. I'd be thrilled to get that kind of a score. Any ideas? Suggestions? Is my Blaze just a dud?
What could I be doing wrong.

My opinion is steps while biking is largely a flaw in the tracking system. You already have distance, average speed, calories, heart rate, and time being tracked while biking. Double duty steps tracking too?. I considered steps while biking, cheater steps from day one, and knew I wasn't going to have accurate actual step counts. You can get steps and floors climbed while cycling. Cool cheater stuff.

Oh, and to answer your question, I never really tracked how many unearned "steps" I'm getting credited for per mile, but mine would be closer to what your getting. The guy getting 500 steps per mile might be hitting a lot of bumps, falsely causing the blaze to detect arm motion, and steps. There's an idea. Try a rougher path, and I'll bet you get more steps. If you're doing 16.5 average, my guess is your ride is smooth for the most part?

Steps while biking simply come from the bumps in the road. j
You want more steps, find a worse road to ride on.
We have had a request for years to have all steps removed while, biking.
We also have a request for a true step count while biking, but no one has explained what a true step count is based on.
Some simply say if they ride a bike for 10 miles, they should get the same steps counted as if they walked the same 10 miles.
Others feel the step count should reflect the calories burnt durring the ride.
So no matter what Fitbit does, they will upset some .Now the choice for Fitbit, who do we upset.
As for calories .Fitbit does not use these steps in the calculation while recording a bike ride.
We still have people furious that steps are not added when spinning or on an elliptical machine .
As for step accuracy. I'm still amazed that by looking only at the movement of the arm. fitbit does a fairly good job of figuring out what the feet are doing. The step count over time stays fairly in sync with the fitbit one.
