Blaze Floor and Step Count not right - should I return it to dealer ?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This is my 5th Fitbit and all of the others were 100% at counting floors.  My new Blaze always misses the first set of stairs every morning, then will be hit and miss as the day goes on.

It is also at about 80% at counting STEPS during a hike with well defined cadence and steps.  My other fitbits were also good at counting STEPS.

I have 10 more days to return it to the dealer.  Are they all bad ? or should I get a replacement Blaze ?

@swbca, your blaze has an altimeter sensor that register 10 feet per floor. If you climb 15 feet you blaze will register 1 floor climb. So for every 10 feet climb you will get 1 floor climb. If your not getting 1 floor per 10 feet climb, I would think your altimeter sensor is faulty.
You will need to play with your stride length setting to get your accurate steps and distance traveled.
Login to your Fitbit app and go to your account tab. Once there tap on help articles and search for stride length setting to help set your stride length. It took me a long time to get my stride length set. Good luck

Hi there @swbca. Good to see you in the Community!

It's a great advice the one @Aclobos offered. I would recommend just the same and if after trying those things out you notice your tracker to still be inaccurate, feel free to get in touch with the Support Team for them to take a look and for them to get you back on track!

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks,   I have my stride length pretty well dialed in after 3 years of using fitbits, but the fitbit under-reporting steps at 80% of actual steps is not an available setting.

@swbca, for some reason I had a hard time dialing in my blaze. It took me about a month to get it right, it's about 95-99% on distance and the steps are right on. What I wound up doing was to driving my car for a 3 1/2 trial and marked every 1/2 mile. So when I take a walk I set my blaze in walk mode and start my walk. I track my steps by counting every 100 steps and checking my blaze to see if it's right on or off. At the half mile mark I would check to see how the blaze is tracking my distance. I'm 6ft tall and the blaze started me at 29.9 for my stride. I have a 34 inch stride and its working for me. You might want to try walking 2 plus miles on your walking trial and Mark every 1/2mile to see how your blaze tracks your steps and distance. When I walk my trial I'm right on, when I walk in the stores I'm about 95%. Something about the blaze that takes some playing with to get it right.
