Is the Blaze the cause of the jump in data usage on my phone?

can be.
Blaze send data to Fitbit servers and the Fitbit app get data back to display.
so, there is a data usage in and out.
on android phones (and others ?), you can know who is speaking and how much.

@nlmux you don't mention which brand of phone you have, but on the iPhone you can check how much data apps are using by going to Settings -> Cellular -> and scroll down to see what Fitbit is showing. I just checked mine (and I have never reset the data so it is showing for the lifetime of the phone I believe) and it's at 230mb. Granted I have wi-fi set so when I sync at home it isn't using cellular data.

Thank you for the input. I have checked several sources, including Verizon, and all assure me data usage is minimal, as you all stated. It just seems strange that I have had a data spike since I have had the Blaze. I will delve further to figure it out.
BTW, I had a Galaxy S5 until last night, now have the S7.

I received my Blaze on 3/31/16 and yesterday (4/6/16) I received my first-ever email from Verizon that I had reached 75% of my (1Gb) data plan with 10 days still to go in the current billing cycle. So I downloaded the spreadsheet (from Verizon) that shows the dates and times of the data usage spikes and correlated those with my GPS tracked activites on FitBit. Surprise, surprise -- they matched perfectly. Clearly, when you are tracking an activity via GPS, lots of data is being used.

I'm surprised their are companies still offering only 1 gig, what's the purpose of advertising that LTE can download at speeds up to 12 mb/s and some tests have been as high as 80mb/s This means in 15 to 80 seconds a 1 gig limit can be blown through, oh great I still will have 2,764,720 seconds left to the month.
With 3 days left, the phone reports Fitbit used 29'4 meg, that's 3% oof a gig.
My mail and Facebook have used 1.5 gig each, while the podcaster and youtube are at 10 gig each.
I can see where 30 meg might be a problem with only a 1 gig plan.
Today I went for a short walk with all internet connections turned off, and was still able to use the connected GPS When I was back home, done with the walk, turned the network on and after a sync the map shows up fine in the app.

I also use Verizon. On my phone, if I go into Settings, Location, then Locating method, there are three options. High accuracy, Power saving and GPS only. Mine is set to High accuracy. If yours is set to Power saving then the phone will use Wi-Fi and mobile networks to estimate your location which would eat up your data.
I would suggest using GPS only, or High accuracy with your phone in Airplane mode so that that the phone will only use GPS to estimate your location.

I was the original poster on this. My question was answered when I continued further into the billing cycle and recognized that my increased usage was due to having a new phone and all of the downloading/tinkering that comes with it. Since that time, I have used the Blaze/phone connection extensively and have not experienced high data use. I just checked, and I am on the default setting of High Accuracy.

Thanks for coming back and letting everyone know, I have not shown any high data usage and I have all day sync and high accuracy, good to know it was a different issue.

Hmmm. I just got a message that I have used 9 of my 10 gigs for the month and I still have 10 days left! Because I live in the country, I have to use a Verizon jet pack for my internet. It's either that or HughesNet. At any rate, I sync my fitbit Blaze to my PC in the morning to update my prior days stats and see my sleep and it appears it is using 300+ MB for this on my PC. That means, if I sync every day, it will use up my entire data plan for the month? Has anyone else had this experience?

@Sybrash i don't know what phone you have, with Android go to settings - data usage there is a liat of apps and how much data they used.
Laat month, Fitbit uses 155 meg of data. This meams it would take me about 6 months for Fitbit to use 1 gig.
Note: i only have internet through the cell network and last month i used a total of 58 gig.
I thinks Fitbit is not what is not what's up with your data.
