Blaze Text Notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
My Fitbit Blaze (so stoked to finally have it!!!) notifications are on and the text message option is set to "message+" which is the app I use... the TXT notification comes through to the device but only by identifying the name of the sender and "1 new message"... I've pressed every and all the buttons and I'm unable to open the message fully and read the actual text, I've even tried test runs sending texts to myself and still no luck... HELP!

So apparently this isn't going to work with the Verizon's default (and far superior message+) messaging application... and even though I've tried using Samsung's message application...it's so far lackluster that my phone almost becomes unresponsive while in use.  I'm really getting aggrivated to know that a big selling feature on this watch (the ability to see text messages) is limited and as it stands now, is a worthless selling feature in my opinion....and the fact that the "fix" is to use a substandard messaging application so my fitbit will show the actual messages I receive, vs just a notification that I got a message is plain ridiculous!

If this doesn't get fixed pronto, this Blaze will be blazing back to the store where I purchased it.

Lies.  I thought I tested it before but apparently I didn't because its working from the native messaging app.  It is not working from message + and the rep said she doesn't know when it will be fixed. whomp whomp whomp.  Well I am switching back over to message +

Since this issue seems to be effecting primarily Verizon customers who use the Message + messaging app, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this "fix" will not get resolved anytime in the near future...it will be one of those things that we'll have to live with unless we are willing to completely switch over to a different messaging application, in order for our fitbit to do what it says it will do...which is display the actual text messages received, and not just a notification of a received message (worthless).

Fitbit, you have 28 days to fix, or this will be getting returned to place of purchase.  Come out with a patch or and update to fix this issue, as it's going to start really irratating people who expected your product to live up to stated claims.

I agree with you.  And Message + should not be a listed option to choose from if that's the case then. I agree with you and should return it because you buy it so that every functionality works.

Just talked to Nelson on the Fitbit helpdesk through chat about this issue.  This was about a 10-15 min conversation...but the gist is there is no expected plans or news of making a second messaging app compatible at this time...So that means if you want to see your messages on the Blaze you better enjoy using the inferior Samsung default messaging app.

He did say we can voice our recommendations or suggestions on the Feature-Requests link.

"The best place to make your voice heard is the Ideas board on our community (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/idb-p/features), which our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need and want."

So not the answer I was looking to hear from these guys...so don't know if I'm keeping or not, as I refuse to use a inferior application for something I use all the time, which is texting, because Fitbit makes their devices only compatible with one messaging app...I mean c'mon...in the 21st century, with dozens of messaging apps...

Another talk with a different FitBit Rep....

Jessie O: yes actually our engineering team is already working on that

Me: will it be an update to Fitbit app or to the Blaze itself or what?

Jessie O: we're identifying the issue so we can resolve it as soon as possible

Me: ok awesome

Jessie O: yes basically the issue is with the app for Android devices

Jessie O: the Blaze is working as it should but the app for Android devices is not connecting to the Messaging + app

Jessie O: so our engineering team is working on that and i will escalate your caseJessie O: so they can receive your Blaze's data

Jessie O: and work on that right away

Me: ok cool

Me: is there an ETA?

Jessie O: we don't have a time frame but we'll send you an email to this email address: #############
with troubleshooting steps so you can follow them and we can resolve this issue

So I guess we shall see if this update ever comes...I hope so...stay tuned.

This is exactly what I've found. I get messages but if there is more than one, I cannot read the message. That's an issue when text messages from friends with other providers often come through in several short text messages rather than 1 big message.

I have a Galaxy S5 running Lollipop and using the default messaging app if I received 2 messages from the same person without having read the first one on my phone it would show "2 messages" as the text instead of the actual second SMS.

Switched to Hangouts and so far it appears to work properly. The second message from the same person is shown correctly and interestingly once I've read it on the Blaze, it is also read on the phone. This wasn't the case with the default message app as it still showed as unread on the phone even after reading it on the Blaze.

The feedback regarding Message+ is appreciated- thanks very much to those have contributed. I will include this in my feedback reports to the appropriate teams. Based on quantifiable mentions, I'll be mentioning this as a common recommendation from the Community. As many of you have noticed, the native messaging application usually works best, which is what I'd recommend.

I'll report back if there's an update regarding messaging functionality. Thanks again!

I run all over SF. What's your story?

I used AT&T and the default Message app. Mine still does not work when I receive multiple messages.

I tried all of the changes to the notifications on my Samsung 5S from Messages+ to Message.  I also changed it on the Fitbit app.  When I went into my text messages to send a test text, I got a pop-up message that says "Do you want to change your notifications from Messages to Messages+" - when I answer "NO" sending a text is disabled.

I'm not sure what else to try.  Any other suggestions?

Make sure do not disturb is off. If it is on, it will prevent you from
getting message notifications. Messages+ will ask you if you want to
switch. If you are switching to messages, you should not be running
messages+.

In my opinion, fitbit app should not have the option to select messages+ if
it doesn't work. The are wasting a lot of customer time and good will be
exposing a feature before it is ready.
