I've been trying to use my Blaze while running on the treadmill. And before you assume I selected "run" or didn't start the workout on the watch properly....I can assure you I did that correctly.
However, when I finish the exercise, it'll say (on my Blaze) that I did 3.26 miles, but on the treadmill, it clocked 4.3 miles. Why such a discrepancy? Is this because my stride length is off? I've gone to manually inputting my treadmill workouts, but that sort of defeats the point of this watch!

I believe that a treadmill stride is known to be distinct from either a normal walking or running stride so that will certainly be a part of it.

SInce you now the distance the treadmill reported, and tye strp count that the tracker reported. It becomes sinple math to figure out the stride, or use an online stride calculator.
Also if your choosing run make sure that the connected GPS has been disabled.
To add to @MikeF's answer, you will find the stride will change when the speed of the treadmill changes.
