Blaze Water Resistance

Time and time again we have asked you people to make the device Water Proof.

Why can't you get it through your thick skulls that there are water sports/activities.

Can I wear my Blaze while swimming?

Fitbit Blaze is rain, sweat, and splash proof. We recommend that you do not swim or shower while wearing Blaze.

You know I swam with my FitBit flex in the ocean and it was fine...I passed
it to someone else to use

Many people do swim and shower with the Flex on the arm, this does not change the fact that legally a 1ATM rating can not be advertised as swim proof. This is layer legalese, you swim at your own risk.

It says also Flex is not recommended for showering  but I keep it on and no problem at all.

I have a Surge and a VivoActive and I really dislike that I have to use both for various reasons. My guess is that Garmin will eventually come out with something like my VivoActive, but with HRM in the device - and when they do, buh bye FitBit. The wrist HRM is literally the only reason I haven't sold my Surge yet.

I had heard rumors, but hadn't read up on it yet. This is pretty fantastic. Thanks!

Truly amazed at the ego on you mate. I am sure Fitbit will survive without your purchase. Nobody is forcing you to buy Fitbit or anyother product. If you have buyers remorse get over it and buy something else.

@ louchung the reason tje Flex is t recommended to shower with,  is because it is rated for 1ATM. According to international standards a 1ATM rating is not to be worn while swimming or under a shower, the standard calls for a 3 ATM rating for use in a shower.

I really don't care about the altitude - i do care about monitoring heart rate when kayaking, swimming and surfing. i am disappointed that more attention has been paid to useless "features" like controlling music than fitness tracking.  There are waterproof barometric sensors - i have used them while scuba diving.

Please reconsider the waterproof issue.

now that i own a blaze. i can say due to it's modular nature, i could very easily see an aftermarket waterproof case + strap being made for it, if fitbit doesn't make it waterproof or offer their own waterpoof band/case option.

Then, can be worn in the shower?  Sometimes the benefit is not talking it off!!   Also, there is a BP component that can track during activities.  I would pay more for more water resistance.

What would be the point though? Fitbit has made it useless for swimming so even wearing it while swimming will do nothing for you as I'm sure the HR won't work with a case on. Easier to take it off and leave at home or something as you won't get steps while swimming and I doubt the touch screen would work with a case on it.

Fitbit needs to make a water resistant tracker that can also track swimming and other water sports.

@mitwess   still water proofing would kill the altimeter for floors andmay mess  with the HR part and as stated earlier would probably kill the touch screen.

The vivoactive hr will be the device that competes heavily with the Blaze. I REALLY like the Blaze. It is comfortable and very nicely made, but I want something that I can wear at ALL TIMES. I don't want to have to remove my watch every time I jump in the pool, go to an amusement park, go to the beach or lake, etc. Summer is coming up and those are activities that A LOT of people enjoy and do. We want to be able to wear our stuff and not worry about it-- bottom line.

The Garmin stuff looks a bit too utilitarian. They may be packed to the gills with tech, and waterproof (obviously the point of this thread, but not my bag.

I agree with the utilitarian comment. I think the new vivoactive hr doesn't look bad though; it has a nice vivid screen like the blaze, but it doesn't have a large bezel (just looked again. it does have a bezel. I didn't notice it before). It is going to be slightly thicker, though.

@AdamMSC - I agree. A fitness wearable should be able to be worn for all fitness activities!
