My hubby was having to charge his blaze at least every 36 hours whereas mine was lasting 4-5 days. Today he took advice from this site while mine was charging on the PC. My battery has barely lasted 12 hours and won't sync with phone app despite never having problems before. What the heck is going on?

The simple answer is no.
What is going on, ot is hard to say, but since you have a Blaze lets do a shutdown. Swipe over to settings - Tap - Swipe up to Shutdown -Tap - Confirm. Press any button to turn it on.
If this keeps up, please contact Fitbit, they will give you a test to perfowm and can monitor the results.
