Blaze distance incorrect

My Fitbit is computing miles incorrectly.  I.e. when I’ve walked four laps it says I’ve gone a mile (5laps is a mile). I recently upgraded my phone to a 10xr

update:

I’ve walked a mile when I have a lap left and keeps adding more miles than I am walking.  I walked 4 miles and it shows I’ve walked 5.68 miles.

Any explanation depends on whether or not you were using connected-GPS.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hi @yoginione, it's nice to see you around! @JohnnyRow thanks for stepping by.

@yoginione I apologize for the delay in my reply and thanks for sharing more details about the issue you're experiencing. Let me share that the distance is calculated by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length. I'd suggest to calculate your stride length by doing the following:

1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Once that is done, adjust your information in the Fitbit app by tapping on the Account icon > Advanced Settings > Stride Length.

Also, if you're tracking your walk with GPS, the distance will be calculated using GPS data rather than steps. Make sure to be connected to GPS before starting your activity, so your device can correctly record your information:

1. On your device, tap the gear icon on any exercise and check that GPS is listed and set to On.

2. Wait until it says "Connected" so you can start your activity.

Let me know how it goes!
