I went on a 3 mile hike today and used 2 hiking poles instead of 1. Blaze tracked me as going 1.76 miles while a hiking app i use tracked me as going 3.3 miles. Is this because I was only swinging my arm about every 2 or three steps instead of on each step? I know it's probably silly, but I would like to get credit for my steps! My iPhone tracked double the steps that my Blaze tracked.
Thanks for the info

Wrist trackers do not count steps when holding on to something. So that's why it did not pick them all up.

Hi Wendy
a quick question for you
I hold onto the arm bar of my elliptical and there is a swinging action but Fitbit Blaze does count "steps".
So why would it not count the hiking stick?
I know i am missing something.
Thanks

Wig an elliptical machine your arms are swinfing, most people find that yes a lot of steps are missed. While using a walking stick the arm moves arm moves completely different than without it while ealking.
What was your step count durring the walk.. You titled the post step count off,, but the body only mentions miles, never mentions steos.
Miles can be off because of a stride setting or step loss.. If using gps the tree coverage can affect stride.

Step count from Blaze was 3658 and mileage was 1.76.
I have a hiking app that clocked the hike at 3.3 miles.
My iPhone tracked my steps for the walk at 7231.
