There are no flashing green lights before or after reboot (holding left and bottom tight buttons for 10 seconds.

any ideas greatly received!

A warm welcome to the Community @Lspkenty and thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself.

 

If your heart rate sensor isn't working, I recommend restarting your Blaze a couple of times more and also, please check that this option is on or auto. You can see this by swiping to settings and select on or auto to see if the sensor reacts.
