Went for a ride yesterday. On both the Blaze and online dasboard it tracked mins, bpm and cals, but showed -- -- for miles. I had rebooted both my iphone 6 and Blaze, and synced just before the ride. Any idea why this happened and to fix?

I have my Blaze connected to the GPS of my phone all the time and without any 3rd party programs running in the background. The GPS signal should be strong, it has worked perfect on this bike route in the prior weeks. The map drawn is correct, however it shows that I bicycled a little over 3 miles when I rode over 14 .
I just purchaed a Samsung Galaxy 7 (not a note 7- LOL) so it will be interesting to see if I have the same problem.
When I ride a short distance to work, the map and distance recorded are correct.

@aginj -- 3 miles recorded for a 14 mile ride sounds like you chose the run activity instead of the bike activity. Not sure why, but when I choose "run" as my activity but ride a bike using connected GPS the Blaze or the Charge 2, the mileage calculation is wrong.

Thanks for your responses.
I spent over an hour with tech support through online chat. They said there was no known defect of this nature in their database. We tried everything to solve the problem without success. They finally decided to send me a replacement.
I really appreciate that they did this, but I was surprised that I didn't have the option to return my defective Blaze. It wouldn't matter if this was a known defect but, since its not, this is a missed opportunity for their tech team to evaluate and determine root cause.
Final assessment of the experience was positive. Defects happen, but Fitbit didn't leave me holding the bag. They backed up their commitment to their customers in my case.

Thank you for the response, but I am sure I chose bicycling and not running.

I just had a similar issue. My fitbit blaze did not track miles or speed on a bike ride for a route I take every week. It has always given me miles, speed and would map my route, but not today. Did Fitbit make an update to their software recently that has a bug?

I let my Blaze auto-detect cycling. It was fine the first 2 times. My 3rd ride was today. It didn't show any activity at all for my 1 hour ride. It was charged, I waa wearing it. Why?

@SunsetRunner, dod you get a map of your ride today?
Did the the phone icon on the tracker show that the Charge 2 had a good GPS signal.
Without s GPS signal, fitbit can not meaaure miles.
@postdi when depending on auto detect, distsnce will not be calculated

Did i say Charge 2 @postdi?
Oh well, my Blaze is dead, but if i remember correctly the icon of a phone is in the top left. If you see a red line through it, GPS has been lost.

Anything different about your third ride? Autodetect for a bike ride is looking for forward motion and probably some bumps from the road transmitted from your handlebars to your wrist for 15 minutes or longer at the default settings. Because of this, it will not pick up rides on a stationary bike. You can check settings in the app to make sure autodetect for bike ride has not been turned off.
And sometimes it just misses an autodetect activity. When that happens you can enter e activity manually.
