I believe you should only need blue tooth connection for using the control feature. If you are also streaming music, then you would need to have Internet connection for that.

Some people have found that of the connect the headphones, then pair the Blaze it then we'll control the music.
This is basically a fight between the controls on the headphones braid the controls on the Blaze
