Blaze timer and exercise mode

Just got my Blaze this week, love it so far.  A shortcoming I've noticed, however, is an inability to access the timer (stopwatch or countdown) when in an excercise mode.  While working out, I like to time my spacing in between sets.  The excercise mode keeps a running clock showing how long you've been in active mode, but I really prefer a notification telling me it's time to get back to work (i.e. Countdown at zero).  Anyone else needing this?

I'm with you. I like to use the exercise tracking function, because it can take up to 10 minutes (i read) for the Blaze to realize you are exercising. But while in this mode, I can't go to any other screens, including setting a timer. It would be really nice if I could do both simultaneously, as I am regularly counting sets, intervals, etc. I have to use my cellphone stopwatch at the same time - which is OK, but really not ideal considering all the technology I have on my wrist. There definitely needs to be a way to use a timer or stopwatch while in exercise mode.

I'm also quite peaved about this. It seems like it should be basic functionality for exercise mode to just run in the background while your working out, allowing you to make use of the other functions of the blaze. This device is currently $250 CAD, it's un-acceptable that they haven't fixed this yet.

I am here for the same reason. It seems ridiculous to have to wear another device to perform this function at the same time.

Yes you can easily switch between apps (3rd paragraph I wrote) on the Apple Watch. Yes I can track a workout, get a vibration for a text then view/reply, get taken back to workout app, set a timer, return to workout, click dismiss when timer finishes, and get taken back to workout. The multitasking just works like you would expect.

Some detailed reviews are showing 2 day battery life on the new series 2, I'm about ready to sell my Blaze and Surge and upgrade to a series 2 (I mainly bike, swim, and lift weights). The Fitbit app is nice and simple, which was great initially and then 2 years ago I wanted more detailed info, and real tracking of biking, swimming and weight lifting. Thats why using best-in-class apps on AW is a better fit for me. I talked about some of the tradeoffs between Fitbit and AW earlier this year.

The new Today tab in iOS 10 Health app is very nice, starting to approach Fitbit app in simplicity, except it can display more info and you can favorite only whats important (e.g. active calories, exercise minutes, cycling distance, weight, steps, macros like protein/carbs/fat, etc, etc) and that info bubbles to the top. Far more comprehensive health data than Fitbit, and if you use MyFitnessPal for nutrition analysis its possible to favorite just the macros you want to see at the top of the list.

I loved my Fitbits and still use the app with MobileTrack, had to go without step challenges for a week after upgrading to iPhone 7 (after 3 years with 5s). I'm completely happy having spent more on AW last year, and getting so much more from my wrist tracker due to watchOS upgrades and all the apps. Like everything in life, its about making tradeoffs.
