Blaze vs the surge

Of it leave my phone in work bag most of the day and on the counter at home is the blaze not the device for me should I get the surge

That all depends on whether you're interested in using GPS tracking of walks/runs or not. Most of the day you wouldn't use GPS anyway so the location of the phone would make no difference.

The Blaze has a little better control of music plus volume, if you listen to music on the phone.
I would check out www.fitbit.com/devices for a better idea of the differences.
