Blaze won't sync to Android Phone

I have a Blaze that I've been wearing for six years.  My Android phone says that the device is connected via Bluetooth.  When I try to sync the data through the app, the FitBit app says that the device needs to be paired and sits spinning on the "Pairing and Linking" until it times out and I have to "Try Again".  My device has not been able to sync for almost a month.  When it does sync, I get a day or two and then I'm starting this all over again.

I've done the trouble-shooting suggestions multiple times - restart the device, reinstall the app, login and logout, turn Bluetooth off and on, restart the phone - all of them.  I am not willing to get a new device as this is one I inherited from someone important and having that consistent reminder has been helping.  But I'd like to be able to utilize the Blaze with the features I used to have.  Any help / suggestions / etc. would be appreciated.
