Calculating resting heart rate

I check my resting heart rate every morning as soon as I wake up. I’ve noticed that it’s been getting higher but my heart rate never really gets that high. For example, I checked the range of my heart rate throughout the entire night and it range from 55-40. However, it said that my resting heart rate jumped up from 56 to 58. How is that possible if my heart rate never even reached 58? I haven’t had any other problems with my Fitbit blaze. I just know think that it’s calculations for RHR are accurate.

Resting heart rate refers to the heart rate measured when you’re awake, calm, comfortable, and have not recently exerted yourself. We use your heart rate data from when you’re awake and asleep to estimate your resting heart rate. For best accuracy, wear your device to sleep.

Your resting heart rate is usually higher than your heart rate while you are asleep, so don’t be surprised if your resting heart rate is higher than the lowest number that you see in your heart rate graphs.

I do wear it to sleep, and I know my RHR won’t be the lowest number shown on the graph but I just don’t understand how my RHR can be higher than any number ever listed throughout the night while “I’m calm or asleep”.

The testing heart rate calculations include periods of rest while awake as well as while asleep.. It really is the heart rate durring periods of awake and at rest that tell more.
