Calorie Burn Requirement

Hi folks,
I'm not new to FB, but have not asked a question in the community before. I began with a flex about one year ago as I wanted to shed some weight. I had my calorie goal set on the hardest setting back then! I remember all my bars going green, notwithstanding that I didn't move that much as I was very unfit! Well, to cut a very long story short, I lost the weight (began running), and changed my weight goal to "maintain". The calorie burn requirement is currently 2,900 and I rarely achieve such, even when running and attaining over 35,000 per day! I called the helpline and was was told that I simply was not moving enough. At the time of the call, I was among the top 2% in the nation for daily steps and I laughed out loud!! Recently, I've managed to get the flu and my numbers have gone to hell in a hand basket! That said, I'm recovering, have upgraded to a Blaze, but still this high burn requirement remains. I have even tried putting in a "weight gain" requirement, still it doesn't budge! I know I'm somewhat silly for wishing all my bars to be a luscious green, but it just upsets me that I can rarely achieve such with the bar set so high. Thank you all for listening, I can't wait to start running again but this H1N1 has taken such a toll 😷 xx

A warm welcome to the Community @HareiraI would suggest to calculate your BMR, you can use a calorie calculator like this one and edit your calorie goal since you mentioned you never achieve that number. To change the information on your iOS app you just need to tap on account, then tap on goals and choose calories burned.

Hope you feel better and continue achieving your step goal :).

I have trouble meeting my calories burned goal even when I meet all my other goals and am on track for my weight loss intake calories versus calories out.  It doesn't make sense to me that this is not the same number, it seems like the number of calories burned goal should be the same number of calories required to be burned to lose my weight goal or eventually to maintain it once my goal is reached.

I wish it were that simple on my Blaze fitbit!  But when I go to goals, it only allows me to chose from Steps, Distance, Calories Burned or Floors Climbed as my main goal, it does not allow me to change my calories burned amount.  I know I am missing something, intially, I was asked questions about my goal, but after answering those questions 2 weeks ago, I seem to be stuck with those answers and cannot figure out how to change my goals numerically.

It's great to have you here @AnnaPM! So, when you initially set up your account it asked you for your personal information and based on that it gave you the goals. If you changed it or it's not something achievable you can always edit it check the post from @SunsetRunner. (Remember Fitbit always recommend to visit your doctor before setting any goal)

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes and how you continue reaching your goals. Robot Happy

Hi Anna, I'm sorry I rarely checked back here.  I actually called FitBit and had them change it, nothing I did worked!  I entered my basal rate etc etc....still the number would not change!  All fixed now 🙂
