Hi there, I started using the FitBit Blaze about a month ago and so far quite happy with it as tracker, the app is the one tha gives me a few headaches. Every time I think I got it, I end up not making sense of the calculations. For example, Fitbit set up a daily goals of 2346 cals for me to burn - how was this calculated?! Secondly, I've set up a goal for myself to lose weight with a deficit of 1000 cals a day. I try to walk and exercise as much as possible so for example today I have 2290 calories out, and 1497 calories in, which apparently puts me OVER TARGET, but leaves me with 167 calories for the day, so I am a little confused. Yesterday, I had 2888 calories out, 1704 calories in and 184 calories left for the day, but UNDER TARGET. I would have expected the fitbit to tell me that I am in the zone at a calorie deficit of 1000, which would be 1290 for today, with no calories left, respectively a 1888 for yesterday with no calories left. Any ideas on how "zones" and calories "left" for the day are being calculated? Thanks! Corina

Welcome to the Forums @Corixee! I will be glad to answer your questions Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity. Your BMR usually accounts for at least half of the calories you burn in a day and is estimated based on the physical data you entered when you set up your account: gender, age, height, and weight. The calorie burn estimate that Fitbit provides takes into account your BMR, the activity recorded by your tracker, and any activities you log manually.
Regarding your questions about the food plan on this post from @SebringDon you can find a very good explanation about it.
Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
