I've been wearing my Fitbit Blaze since the first week of March 2016. Before then, I had been wearing a Fitbit Charge HR for 1 year. When I got my Blaze, the steps and calorie count were very similar to my previous Fitbit Charge HR and I was quite sastified with the accuracy of the results.
I normally train at the gym 3 time per week, walk a minimun of 5 miles 5 to 6 day per week and practice hot yoga 1 to 2 a week. I'm quite short, so with all this training I would average a calorie burn of about 2,100 to 2,350/day and 1,700 on rest day (rest day always include brisk walk of at least 3 miles).
In early April, I had surgery and required 2 weeks of recovery. During tne 14 days recovery, I removed my Blaze. I've put it back on 10 days ago. Since then, I've noticed that the Step Counter is jumpy (doesn't count, then overcount). What I found most disturbing is the Calorie Count. I'm still in semi-recovery (back to walking but not yet back to physical training), I've been taking it very easy, but my calorie count is averaging 2,300/day when it should be more in the 1,700 range.
I'm unsure if there was some software change that dramatically affected Calorie Count? Or if my Blaze is defective? I'm quite disaspointed with this change, as I used to be able to easily maintain my weight with the previous Calorie Count. I just want my Blaze to produce accurate results again! 😞

Hey there @Kakosee. I'm glad to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂
There has been a firmware update in the last few days which you might have done. It seems that some users are having issues with steps accuracy and in your case, calories as well as a result of step calculation.
I'd recommend restarting your tracker a couple of times by pressing and holding the left button and the lower right button together for about 10-15 seconds and then try your tracker and keep an eye on it to see if there is any improvement.
Hope this helps and also our team is working hard to see what is going on and get a fix for this. Thank you so much for your patience and if you need anything else let me know. I'll be glad to help! 🙂

Will there be a push for the new firmware once a fix is found? Will we be notified before hand? I am having the same issues with step tracking - distance tracking and floor count.

Quick follow up, for my case, I believe it's the heart rate monitor that is defective. I've worn my Fitbit Charge HR on my right wrist and Fitbit Blaze on my left wrist all day. The Fitbit blaze HR monitor is way off, showing 170bpm when lightly walking, the Charge HR is showing 115bpm at the same moment.
I've went on a 6 miles walk the Blaze was averaging a 140bpm (with reading many reading as high as 199bpm) while the Charge HR was averaging a 120bpm (with only one reading at 185 with a few 155-160 reading). I've contacted the Customer Support by phone, they will investigage and I'm waiting on their feedback.

Hi, I have had the same with my blaze not counting steps. I only bought it 10 days ago and have been suspicious that it wasn't counting my steps right as my partner and I are competing so I did a regular walk this morning to check it again, where I know how many steps I do having used previous counters, including my old surge The Blaze came up over 1000 steps short. I have also had some irratic heart rates of 196 whilst walking too. I have tried to restart it as you suggested so I hope this works as I do like fitbit.

Has anyone had any issues with burning a large amount of calories while you sleep? I have been active for upto 200 minutes and burned calories like i was running a marathon while i was also logging sleep. I guess its possible that I am sleep working out but something not working correcly seems more likely.

I have been experiencing the exact same problem for the past 2 days. I have a Charge HR and also a Blaze that I alternate between. I find it more comfortable to sleep in the Charge, so that is what I have been doing for the past month. Yesterday when I woke up, I had 650 calories burned on the Charge and 2500 calories burned on the Blaze, which I wasn't even wearing! It did the same thing this morning. I tried to do a reset on the Blaze, so we will see if it works.

Hi Ferando,
Is this still the issue. I just receive a Fitbit Blaze and it is tracking steps even when I'm sitting and doing nothing. I did the restart twice now. Any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Joe

Has there been any fix for this besides turn it off and back on again?

Welcome to the Community @accovert! I would like to get more details about the issue that you're experiencing. Usually, when you see more information in your Dashboard the reason may be because, you have logged an activity for many hours or you've entered the wrong hour.
Keep me posted.

I've tried the reset but it hasn't worked. For example, I've already recorded 15,774 steps and I haven't even got out of bed!

My calories burned has dramatically increased! I can step less and burn more now! HELP! It’s not helping me lose the weight when I have a 1500 calorie goal but see I have 6,000 more calories to use in My Fitness Pal! I’m trying to lose and stay within my 1500 goal! My sleep record has also stopped giving me my different patterns.

Have you tried contacting the customer services? 6,000 cal burned for half your steps isn't normal. Hope they can help you fix it!

I remembered when I had my issues I talked to a few agents and ended up speaking to a supervisor who finally helped me. My watch was still under warranty so they had send me a replacement. If your watch is constantly showing wrong value then i would explained that it’s defective, maybe ask to speak to a supervisor. If its no longer under warranty they may not be able to help. Good luck, hope someone will be able to help you!

I’m out of warranty so would probably need to buy a new one😏 notsure if I will stay with fitbit as cost is really high compared to comparable other brands.

Hi @Schoolterp! Nice to hear from you again. Thank you for troubleshooting this situation with us. Since you have already restarted your tracker, I suggest that you give it one last chance and try deleting it from your account and pairing it again. You can find more information here: How do I delete my Fitbit account?
@Kakosee great to see you here again. Thank you for your suggestions. 😉
I hope you have a great weekend!
