Calorie count on new fitbit

Hi,

I have just bought a new fitbit blaze and have synced it to my phone etc and it is saying I have done 8 steps and burnt 995 calories - but I haven't even worn it yet?

Is there a way of wiping that data?

The calories you are seeing will be including your BMR (basal metabolic rate). These are calories that your body burns just being alive, including motor functions etc. Fitbit calculates these based on the information you gave when you set up your account (height, weight, gender).

In other words what you are seeing is completely normal.

A warm welcome to the Community @TomasynDay! Just as @N8teGee mentioned the calories burned you're getting are from your BMR, you can learn more about it by checking How does Fitbit estimate how many calories I've burned?

The steps you got might be from the movement while it was on the way to you. You can delete these steps by logging driving for the day or the time frame that you got them.

Hope this helps!
