I have "Moment" selected as my clockface. This morning, the clock face had different parameters than what it did last night, and for an unknown reason. It is showing me distance, in unknown units, and I can't seem to figure out how to get it back to steps. How do I get steps to show on the clock face instead of distance?
RANT, BACKSTORY, DETAILS ETC
I bought a Fitbit Blaze yesterday. First impressions are that there are not enough technical people in the departments associated with writing about this device. For example, the box doesn't mention Bluetooth, and the install program mentions plugging in an unnamed dongle that is not included.
After an hour of searching, I was able to deduce that the devices all require Bluetooth 4.0, and the dongle they referred to was a USB Bluetooth adapter. I eventually got the Blaze somewhat working on a Note II running Android 6.0 (custom ROM). However, during initial setup, the app thought the firmware update failed when it appears to have succeeded.
The Blaze is running 17.8.402.1, which according to the sticky in this forum is "The Latest". Changing any settings of the Blaze from the app seems to require me turning off Bluetooth and then back on again to force a sync/update. Pressing the manual update button in the app spins for a while and doesn't do anything. The app had difficulty loading the clockfaces, so it was 2 hours after I wanted to change the clock faces that I could even see what my options were. Eventually I changed it to "Moment". At some point last night, it was randomly changed to "Flare", so I changed it back.
I don't know if this product is terrible on purpose, or if I have a broken one. But this is killing my motivation for using a fitbit.

Hi there @ArAIROntUXEcUla. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂
I'm sorry you're having problems with your Fitbit Blaze not working quite as it should.
When it comes to the Moment clockface that you've chosen, what exactly are the parameters that it shows now? The distance, are you able to see the units that it shows? It shouldn't really show any units on that clock face, it should just give you the icon for distance, steps, calories, etc. and the number of them.
About the backstory and details, thanks a lot for taking the time to share this with us! I'll be sure to pass your feedback to our team as it helps us improve our services.
In the meantime, about the problem you're having with the Moment clockface, have you tried to restart your tracker or set it as a new device to see if that makes any difference?
If not, for the restart, You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot.
Once you've done this, if that doesn't work, you can try to set it up as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.
Let me know if you still need more help with this!

There are 3 elements to the moment clockface: 1. the clock 2. heartbeat 3. Steps (with a footprint icon). When I have the problem, the footprint icon changes to a GPS pin icon (a la Google Maps), and the number turns from a multidigit (for example 5 digit) number, to a number with a decimal. For example, instead of 1,500 steps, it shows me 1.75, or something. I'm presuming it's changing to miles or kilometers, but it does not show the units.
As I was taking it out of its cradle, I observed the value change. Eventually, I discovered that if you tap the clockface, various pieces of data will change in that location. It looks like the order is the following:
- Steps
- Distance
- Calories
- Stairs (???)
And it will go back around to steps.
