Counting floors not climbed

Every day I use elevators to get to my office and home, I never uses star (lack willpower), but my Blaze is informing me that I´m climbing a lot of floors. I feel like cheating... Can I change configuration to cut it?

I think the label of stairs is a little misleading as going for a walk or run with elevation change will also give you some floors. It only gives you floors if it registers you as walking and changing elevation. If you are receiving a lot of floors, I wouldn't say you should feel like you are cheating. You are probably getting those floors from other places and just aren't realizing it. Think of it as a gift, something you didn't know about that now you do thanks to the Blaze.

That being said, feel free to experiment by checking the number of floors before and after elevator rides (it will only work going up) and see if the blaze gives you any floors. It is possible if you move your arms a lot or walk around in the elevator that the blaze thinks you are walking up stairs, so experiment with that and see if the elevator rides are what is giving you the extra floors. It shouldn't give you floors climbed if you ride an elevator though from what I understand.

Hey there @Periard. Good to see you in the Community!

I totally agree with @fudge22 in the way that the Fitbit trackers that record floors work and I would say this is exactly what is happening here. You can also see an explanation I gave on this thread to a user facing a similar situation.

Somewhere I read that it also uses changes in pressure which is associated with elevation. That's why if you go for a walk or run and it's windy, you'll end up with high numbers of floors traveled. A few days ago I went for a run while it was around 20 mph winds and i ended up with 32 floors traveled. The terrain around my neighborhood is flat.

That's totally right, the altimeter works sensing the atmospheric pressure around the tracker and adding up the changes in elevation, this modifies the pressure and could give extra floors sometimes.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us @JohnH59. Great to see you around! 🙂
