I purchased a FitBit Blaze for my husband as a gift for Valentine's Day. He loves it! This morning he woke up with a crack across the screen! It's only been 5 months and I am told via chat by the customer service rep that it is not covered by warranty. She offered a 25% discount off the purchase of a new one since he is a "valued customer". Seriously!? Why would I buy another one when I just spent $200 dollars 5 months ago? Plus, why would I spend money on another one when clearly the materials are cheap and the purchase isn't worth it! I personally have had my Apple Watch for almost 2 years and I have not had ANY issues with cracking. I even contemplated switching and purchasing the FitBit Blaze for myself due to the fitness focus but not after this ridiculous example of customer service. I have always heard awesome things about FitBit but this is very disappointing. Shame on you FitBit!

Funny your husband smashes his watch and you think you deserve a new one. Try taking care of your stuff.

Hi, @Haney2017, accidental damage is not covered by the Fitbit warranty. If you believe the damage to your husband's Blaze is not accidental I would get in touch with Customer
Support again.

He didn't smash his watch. It clearly happened during normal wear. I'm pretty sure if you had just purchased a Blaze and you notice a hairline crack across the screen, you would be pissed as well. Take that "take care of your stuff" mess somewhere else. Clearly, FitBit needs to use better materials for a fitness watch. I have never heard this happen to any other company's fitness watch. We aren't asking for a new device. We would even send in his cracked screen one so that it could be repaired! With a quick search through the forum, you will see that this isn't a materials issue because it is happening entirely too much to FitBit customers.
Good day.

Sorry but you said he woke up with a crack on it . He smashed it on something in his sleep . Wear and tear. nice try. You should apologize to fit bit for trying to down grade their materials used . Put yourself in their shoes . Ppl like you are hard customers to please .

My inclination is to agree with everyone's responses about taking care of your stuff, so much so I never called fitbit support to complain, however... I experienced a similar problem, I woke up one morning and noticed my blaze screen was cracked. I know for sure it wasn't a matter of me wearing it while doing strenuous physical labor or due to my smacking it against something. I'm also fairly certain I didn't smash it against something while sleeping. My guess is it cracked due to some flaw in the material such as very thin glass or not sufficiently hardened glass, or who knows possibly a temperature change or maybe some other phenomena the fitbit should be able to handle. In any case the glass is definitely not as durable as a typical watch, definitely not as durable as it should be.
