I'm not sure if anyone has asked this, but will it be possible to customize the Blaze's UI? I'm interested in finding out what kind of options will be available for the watch face.

@Hersch At launch, there were will be 4 clock faces to choose from, all with something a bit different. Each will give you one or more details about your progress throught the day! I'm excited for you all to see them.

You will have various face options but they are not yet published.

You can also add certain sports to UI for a quick start. It won't be anything as deep as a true smart watch though. We are still limited to what Fitbit gives us.

Having four faces at launch is a great start but will be great to see more after launch. I am buying the Blaze (over the charge HR) soley for the clock face.

However, Looking at Google Image Searches, I have seen more than 4 screens e.g.

  • 2 Analogue clocks,
  • Digital with clock in centre, date above and stats below
    • on a purple check background
    • on a orange graduated background
    • on a white background
  • Digital clock at top with stats below,
    • on a dark blue graduated background
    • with a solid orange background
  • Digital clock at top with day and date below
    • looks like a green background
  • Digital clock at the bottom with icons above (seen on ABT video of the app clock selection page).

Can we conclude from this that there may be 4 formats but there will be options to enable background colour/image (I really hope so), select if date is shown & format. Otherwise, are some of these images clock faces still in development?

Is there anyone from Fitbit that can share information on the multiple colour combinations of the clock faces?

I am using the "Zone" face on mine and the backgorund goes from yellow to green but was not that color when I first activated it.  MAYBE it changes color depending on the time of day so night it would be a darker color or blue.

Time will tell, not dissapointed in Jax, FL!!!

Also remember that you can tap on the screen and change "some" of the information like toggle between date and HR.

Wonder if by chance that clock face has the background change in regards to your step count - how close you are getting to your goal

I am about 80% complete.  You could be right for sure.

I do know when I first changed it, the colors were darker.  Guess we will have to see, I might be mistaken but I do not think so!

Ok it is 5;26 Jacksonville FL time and my watch face has now turned blue to dark blue at the to- so I am pretty sure that the background color change is due to time of the day for the Zone watch face.

I read in another thread that if you have the "zone" face, the back ground color changes and is reflective of your heart rate.

While sitting in the Lazyboy I watched it go from the yellow-green to blue-dark blue and then back again. This am after taking it off the charger, it was the yellow-green background again.

I just need some more time to see if HR is the factor as I have eliminated time of day. Today will be my first full day with the Blaze.

The Zone face is my favorite except the bright yellow backgorund as the white analog letter do not show up well against.  A few times yesterday my watch showed a dark blue background while using the Zone face so how can I make it stay that way.

What makes the face go from the bright yellow-green to the darker blue.  Please have FitBit explain!

Great to read your observations. Seems a poor indicator if we do not actually know what what it is indicating but maybe Fitbit having given the community the task of discovering the colour change algorithm. Doesn't sound like the Yellow-Green background (with white text) is liked much or particularly functional - would hope an update might remove or allow some configuration.

I'm in the UK and waiting for the Blaze to reach the shops before I can test myself so very grateful to you all for feeding in your comments on this one.

After 24 hours of using the Zone watch face I find the color changes to be just random and mean nothing!

Love the dark blue which shows the numbers the best but the green/yellow theme is typical about 80-90% of the time for me.

@SunsetRunner The "Zone" clock face changes color based on your current heart rate reading (hence the name of that option). Black means that it isn't detecting any HR, dark blue indicates low HR, and it progresses in a gradient to green, yellow, and warmer colors as your heart rate increases.

If so them my new Blaze is broken as no matter where my HR is 90% of the time it is the green yellow color most the time including when I put it on this morning and while running.

I just removed my watch and left it on the desk for about 3-4 minutes and it shows "--" for the heart rate as it should. It is the same yellow and green.

Not Random?

Fitbit support seems to not agree and sent me this:

We're sorry to hear that the date on your Fitbit Blaze is hard to see when set to Zone clock display.

At this time, we can't change the color for "Zone" clock display as changing color is part of the features of the clock display and is random. However, you could try adjusting the brightness of the screen and check if you could see the date clearly. .
