Distance not being calculated correctly on the Blaze

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have tried reseting, reconnecting my brand new Blaze and I walked a known distance around a track of 2.5 miles (In the Army for my PT Test) and it said that I only did 6.7k steps and .87 miles.  Any help with fixing this so that our fitbits calculate distance correctly.  Thank you.

Hi there @JHTrainor! Great to see you in the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I'm sorry to hear that your distance seem no to be recorded correctly on your Blaze. In this situation, this can be due to your stride length not being correct, so you can try updating your stride length to see if this makes any difference.

To measure your walking stride length:

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk.

Then, To change your stride length:

From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon at the top right corner.

  1. Tap on Advanced Settings.
  2. Tap on Stride Length.

  3. Adjust your stride length.

After this, try it out and see if there's any difference. Let me know how it goes!

So my 1 mile on track is 1909 steps so then stride is 2.76?

But I know during my testing I speed up and take shorter strides then when I get tired I go into my longer “ruck march” strides.

Set your walking stride length to 23.6 in. on the Fitbit app under advanced settings. That is your calculated stride based on 2.5 mile walk with 6700 steps. If that doesn't work then something is wrong with your tracker, not with all Blaze trackers.
