It's great to see you around @Braido and regarding to your question, no, you don't need internet connection in order to receive notifications, you just need to have your bluetooth on and the phone near you.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else. Woman Happy

Not entirely true Alejandra. Your phone with the data connection has to be on and near by to receive notifications. The blaze itself can't connect to the internet. So that's not even an option.

@MarkMM internet is not needed for your phone to forward any notification of any received messages or info that it has received.. If the phone wont display notifications on your lock screen you won't see them on the tracker.

As for text messages, they come through the cellular network, not the internet so the phone is able to pass them on even without an internet connection.

Yes your correct, if the phone can't receive an update to Facebook, WhatsApp, Google Plus, etc then it will not be able to tell you that you have received what you havent received, and therefore nothing , in the way of notification is there to be passed on

By the way, notifications dont come from the internet, they are simply a way of the phone informing you that you have received some type of information.

If you look at it this way, yes the notifacation process itself does not go throgh the internet.

I believe what he meant was if the Fitbit app needed to be connected to a cellular of wifi connection in order to relay the message you receive on your phone to your Fitbit. I’ve had this problem multiple times where I got a text message on my phone, but it didn’t relay the message to my charge 2 until I got home and I connected to wifi. In this situation I had cellular data turned off for the Fitbit app

Hi rich,

I'm reaching out to you as I have several issues with my charge 2 and I've read everything and tried everything in these forums, including your posts, and it seems like my charge 2 has a mind of its own as it will only sync on and off throughout the day, and sometimes even for days, just when it wants to.  Here's what I care the most about is getting my calls and regular text messages. Technically I don't need any Wi-Fi or internet for my phone to share that with my watch, but somehow when I turn any internet connection off, I won't receive any notifications, and when I turn the internet back on, it won't work either anymore. I'm totally lost and desperate as it will work very randomly even though I've tried turning on, off and back on everything, restarted, rebooting, unpairing, updating, installing, name it, I've tried it

The communication between the tracker and the phone for notifications does not need the internet. However some tyoes of notifications will never be received when the phone does not have an internet connectivity the n.

Since your asking about a problem with the phone, would you be kind enough and include the phone type?

I have an HTC m8 and it's compatible. Even though it's not supposed to require the internet in order to relay my calls and regular texts (and I'm not talking about whatsapp and facebook, etc), it just won't, especially when I go out the door, even with my phone's internet. And most of the time, even when my phone's linked back with my Home Wi-Fi, it won't work anymore.  Seems like I'm supposed to stay at home and not even go out the door, which makes the charge 2 useless as well as the need to receive notifications.

Hey guys, I hope you are doing fine.

About your inquiry about the notifications, as mentioned, you don't need internet connection in order to receive them. For more information you can take a look at the following links:

I have a fitbit versa I got a few weeks ago, and I setup the notifications so they show on my watch. I dont always have internet on my phone, and the notifications still show on the phone for a couple weeks. But then they quit working. So I have to connect my phone to the internet and sync the watch with my phone and then it works for another week or two. I need the watch to still get my notifications and work indefinetely even if my phone isnt conected to the internet. My emails, etc still come to my phone because we are on a private network, but it cant access the open web. What can you do to make it work all the time and not for just a week or two, and then have to connect the phone to the internet for a minute?

Also on the apple watches you can change the watch face, settings, etc from the watch or the fitbit app on the phone without having to have the internet. Why cant I do this on my fitbit versa?

@mattwilkins I'm confused. Before the phone can send notifications to a Fitbit tracker, the phone needs to be able to receive notifications from the Internet. For the phone to receive from the Internet, it needs to have access to the Internet. Your private network still has controlled access to the Internet.

If the phone stops sending notifications then check the settings, this has nothing to do with what network the phone is connected to.
